Little known fact: Benjamin Franklin invented the Huey helicopter and the mini-gun in anticipation of Carl Marx's birth.

Sounds like something a Founding Father would write, I'm gonna allow it.

15
RandomUzer 15 points ago +15 / -0

and specifically HE probably would have.

5
Kaggzz 5 points ago +5 / -0

Franklin would have made it a 10 page folio, published on vellum and bound in the best leathers and wood available. Then he'd send a copy to every member of parliament with a personalized forward describing their wives naked bodies from his personal experience.

RandomUzer 3 points ago +3 / -0

He was amazing at trolling people. I 100% believe he would do exactly what you said.

Interestingly enough, even though the evil ideas of communism wouldn't be penned by Marx and Engels for several decades, there is a great quote (that I can't seem to find) from Founding Father John Adams warning against the tyranny of the majority that would happen if we had a populist democracy, specifically that the masses would vote themselves the property of the wealthy.

Collectivism is a faulty philosophy that predates the Communist Manifesto it’s just that Marx and Engels were the first shitbags to write it down

5
Sigma 5 points ago +5 / -0

That it took so long just goes to show how fucking lazy socialists/collectivists are.

Democracy has long been criticized ever since the Athenians were tricked into snatching defeat from the jaws of victory during the Peloponnesian War. The sophists and wealthy merchant class got Athens involved in a second front with the future Italians.

Democracy is just a tool. Nothing more. And invoking democracy into every aspect of our economic lives would be a disaster. Think about how few people understand the true need for financial investment. The average cancer drug takes $200 million to produce and only 5% ever enter the market. Socialists would have no clue how much time or labor to invest without markets.

"Any society that will give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both": Benjamin Franklin

2
Frog_Anne 2 points ago +2 / -0

The founding fathers might have already known it was bad idea, even without the label. Apparently, one of the first colonies tried communism their first year. They decided all the food would go into a community pot and be divided evenly, the old "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" baloney. Strangely, a number of people suddenly developed various ailments, and chronic fatigue become a terrible problem. That winter they nearly starved, so the next year it was decided every family would keep what they produced, no more community pot. Even more strangely, the ailments and fatigue miraculously disappeared! The lame rose up, able to work, and had enough to eat the next winter.

The Mayflower Compact. Well worth reading but Tl;Dr is it was the first thing tried by Europeans here, and it failed miserably.

The Mayflower Compact was studied in depth in school when I was there. Probably 4th grade. Yes, it was communism pre-Marx. Yes it resulted in mass starvation and death. Yes it was tried on this continent under the most ideal circumstances for it to succeed.

All was fixed by merely defending property rights.

3

Thank God they ditched communism. And thank God for property rights, the rule of law, and capitalism.

The French revolution is the bitch that birthed the bastard cunt, that would eventually birth Communism.

Weirdly enough, the American revolution inspired the French revolution.

But where the Americans compromised on religion and still kept a wide berth for it, the French shat on it, tried to eradicate it and in turn, ended up turning their revolution into what became known as the "Decade of Terror"

"All Property, indeed, except the Savage's temporary Cabin, his Bow, his Matchcoat, and other little Acquisitions, absolutely necessary for his Subsistence, seems to me to be the Creature of public Convention. Hence the Public has the Right of Regulating Descents, and all other Conveyances of Property, and even of limiting the Quantity and the Uses of it. All the Property that is necessary to a Man, for the Conservation of the Individual and the Propagation of the Species, is his natural Right, which none can justly deprive him of: But all Property superfluous to such purposes is the Property of the Publick, who, by their Laws, have created it, and who may therefore by other Laws dispose of it, whenever the Welfare of the Publick shall demand such Disposition. He that does not like civil Society on these Terms, let him retire and live among Savages. He can have no right to the benefits of Society, who will not pay his Club towards the Support of it".

Ben Frank wanted publicly regulated laws not the abolishment of private property.

On other threads you keep trying to incite pedes to violence.

Depends on the definition of left-wing.

The historical, central European conception came from seating arrangements around the time of the French revolution and centered around the role of government. Left wing advocated for limited, small government. Right wing were the monarchists who believed in strong government.

The English and American conception came from a series of debates between Thomas Paine and Edmund Burke and centered around the nature of social change. Paine (Left) argued society was arbitrary and could be destroyed and remade from scratch. Burke (Right) believed (correctly it turns out) that society and institutions evolve naturally over generations of trial and error such that making drastic social changes will only create chaos and destruction.

Nazis and Fascists were right wing in Europe because they were totalitarian - government controls literally everything - but they both promoted a new culture and a "new man" that could be created by forcibly changing society. They would be Left wing by American standards.

Ben Franklin was left wing by the historical European standards by wanting small government, but I don't know his view on social change so I'm not sure how he'd rate by English/American standards.

No it isn't you blatant liar.

Such terms were derived from the Whigs and the Monarchists, constitutionalist vs absolute monarchist which arose back in 1688.

Left and right developed into bywords from that.

Also, the Rights of Man from where we derived our Constitution also came from the Glorious Revolution.

You still haven't shown proofs cuck
