The mainstream media is - absolutely. Media in general is the friend. (Like right now, we're all benefiting from thedonald.win)
At the News Museum in DC, they have a little exhibit where you can place a sticker on an agree or disagree column regarding a certain statement or question to see how your opinion looks in comparison to those around you. The blurb was "The President of the United States has said that news is the enemy of the people. Do you agree or disagree with that thought?"
Think about the shit they just pulled there and how underhanded they were - because they completely understand what they just did. They just hardcore misrepresented everything he said by depriving it of context (who was it directed at, when was it said) and by generalizing it to seemingly encompass ALL news that has ever existed. That wasn't what Trump said or meant and that's obvious to anyone who has actually bothered to watch the video of when he said it. He directed his comment of "... you're the enemy of the people" towards MAJOR NETWORK NEWS (like CNN) that have shown that they don't give two shits about getting truth out to the people (and intentionally don't spread truth) but, like this century's Snake Oil salesmen, they masquerade around as reputable individuals and peddle their product as something it absolutely isn't.
Had the News Museum made any remote attempt at being honest or representative, they would have asked "Is current major network news the enemy of the people?"
