I don't 100% agree with this, but they do what they do.
The part I agree with you on is I have seen some really good quality memes/news sit at 300 plus upvotes organically yet gain no traction. Lot's of stuff gets lost in the shuffle but you gotta understand how fast this place is growing.
On the other hand I've learned more about getting back in the loop from stickies whem being offline for a few days.
Plus I've noticed mod have their favorites. Personally made and posted memes that get nowhere, and a few hours later the same user takes the meme and gets stickied. Seen this happen a lot with other users when you sort by new.
Guess all places have their own popularity and "boys clubs" - even here.
