The catechism is not the word of God, therefore moot and religious practice, not Christian or Biblical practice.

The Catechism is the faith as understood by the Catholic Church. Here is my thinking at the time that I converted. The Catholic Church predated and compiled the Bible. Without the Catholic Church, there would be no Bible. Jesus didn't leave us a Bible, he left us a Church, according to the Bible itself. There were many writings which were claimed to be divinely-inspired before the Bible was compiled. The Church determined which ones were and which were not. If the Church was valid then, why not now?

Because the cburch then is not the same as the same as the church now. Catholics perform rituals - blessings by priests, holy water, "receiving" communion, dressing in robes and priest wear, signing a cross, rosary beads, confession, and more - none of these things are Christian, they are catholic. That's the difference. Jesus doesn't require or ask you do those things, the catholic church does. You are worshipping catholicism, not Christ.

The Catholic Church does not require all of these things. You are not required to say the rosary, use holy water, etc. These are aids. Catholics are required to required to receive Communion, but that it a command from Jesus himself: "Do this is remembrance of me." Read John 6 for the details from Christ himself. Communion is Christian: "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." (Acts 2:42) The Church didn't make that up.
