Mary did not die on the cross for my sins, and neither did any other "saint," so praying to them is placing them equal to or greater than Jesus. Furthermore there is no divine blessing or power granted to humans that allows one human to be a mouthpiece and line to God, but not another. Priests do not have any more authority than what the catholic church tells you to give them. I can speak with God just as well and equal as a priest, because I have the Holy Spirit in me. Do not seek out the catholic church, they are corrupt and evil substitutes for Truth.
You're believing anti-Catholic lies. Catholicism does not put Jesus on the same level with saints or Mary. Catholics ask the saints and Mary for their prayers, just as they might ask another person because we see the Church as a unified whole of the living, those in purgatory, and those in Heaven: The Church Militant, The Church Suffering, and the Church Triumphant. The Catechism is online and open to anyone.
Lutheran is good, but NOT ELCA. LCMS and WELS are the other big ones that are generally pretty good. The guy who makes these videos is LCMS, and it shows why you need to avoid ELCA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nx8QqiADyw
