I'm a 40 year computer geek, currently working as a sysadmin at a nationally known university. I work closely with the network and security folks. I feel exactly the same way, but would never violate a trust agreement with an employer. That's the way it used to be not so long ago, but sadly no longer.
I read up on Windows 10 when it came out and found out it's basically backdoored spyware at the kernel level. Practically programmed by the NSA.
I use Linux. I know it can still be compromised and will be taking paranoid steps soon to set up walls against intrusion. Virtual machines, hyper hardened OS's, and other such craziness.

Spez: I will never run any Microsoft OS again.
