I agree with this but not because anyone needs to keep secrets but simply because the position itself is to be apolitical, unbiased and it shouldn't make a difference in terms of the job itself.
I remember in 2016, on the old T_D a bunch of us had a pact to wear a red, non-political shirt to the polls as sort of a "you can trust me" symbol for our fellow Pedes. Not just that but I do believe it's illegal to campaign within a certain distance of a polling place.
