In Sept the first public beta of the Starlink service will begin. Within a year the constellation will be robust enough for a North American launch. A year after that Europe and more.
Starlink costs less than 1/100th (or less) than the cost of a 5G network (and that's just the cost for 5G in the United States). 15b vs 1.5t (probably higher for 5G because that barely covers the tower and fiber costs as they are now projected - and their current implementation can't even penetrate wood). 5g will never recoup the costs for their service as in ever - and the case-use is stupid as LTE networks are sufficient for mobile clients (and cheap tech).
Starlink will paint the planet with high speed internet with lower latency than hardline and only needs sky access (and it's not single direction either - not omnidirectional - but half of that. It's dynamic.).
With more streaming services coming online - cable and sat are screwed. I dumped cable for DSL until the starlink program gets going - then I'll switch to the pizzabox antenna.
I'd love to see a source for the latency. I imagine satellite being inherently slower than hardwired. Also. I don't want all the crap they are spewing. I just want fast broadband internet access so I can see and do what I want online without a package of crap going with it. I don't want cable 2.0

The advantage SpaceX has is they also own the deployment fleet of re-usable rockets (never before available outside of the Shuttle's SRBs), and of course manufacture it themselves (also new). The combination of satellite design (a flat-pack that provides over dozens of deployments per launch or greater) a rapid and steady launch system all combine to create a planetwide internet mesh of high capacity and bandwidth blowing the doors off a distributed tower network. Even more so than 5G since you're still bound to slower terrestrial lines between an ever increasing tower array of lower and lower distances of coverage (at dubious ROI and case-use). The video puts the cable costs alone for 5g at 150b but he's missing the tower, tech, multiplexers, additional urban relays and on and on that pumps that up to 10x that figure for a robust network for 'just' the US (many trillion worldwide - compared to 10-15b worldwide for starlink).
Final note - Starlink's future costs aren't fixed. As SpaceX's Starship program ramps up over this decade, cargo versions of the spacecraft could maintain the constellation with far far fewer launches - possibly even as low as a two launches (Starship is a monster of a hauler to orbit - it can carry the mass of a 747 to orbit fueled with cargo and passengers).
I wouldn't go back to watching that shit if it was free.
