I finally saved enough and just got an Eotech XPS2 for my AR. Now I gotta go get my prescription filled for eye glasses. I knew before I ordered it that there might be an issue with my astigmatism, and sure enough, the reticle has a starburst-like effect around it. I feel confident though that glasses will fix it. I can't wait to go zero in!
It's not awful but it makes the red dot blurry. Not completely unusable though. There's a kind of scope that should be fine and I'll likely splash out for one of those sometime. Iron sights are also fine.
The main issue with the lasik for me is the cutting of the cornea and that I'm starting to lose my near sight a little with age anyway and don't want to make it worse. Hopefully they'll develop better techniques at some time.
If that doesn’t work, or you are using a red dot on a hand gun, do some research on a Merit Optical Attachment. It’s about $60 and can attach to your prescription glasses or regular safety glasses.
I can’t speak to the practicality of it, but it's something I will also look into as my eyesight gets worse with age.
Really, it's not that big a deal. I was just expecting a nice sharp dot and thought I had a faulty unit when I first turned it on. Then I pointed my phone camera at it and found out it was me.
Got mine for $350. MidwayUSA exclusive after Christmas. Used will much more reasonable, too. Was actually looking into the Primary Arms stuff, which is similar if not the same as Vortex. They do a great job of making it seen like it's not Chinese. It is no matter how you slice it. Not MAGA in my world when US or US ally (Japan, Israel, Germany) made alternatives do exist.
Got mine for $350, a 100 more than primary arms chyna stuff. This was last year though, before the nuttiness.
When it comes down to it is a hundred dollars or so going to come between you and a quality optic. For goodness sake it's about as important as what's under it.
Cries in astigmatism.
Get yourself some eye-lasers! Fixed that problem for me!
How's Jean Grey doing?
I would in a split second but my vision is otherwise not bad enough to justify it.
I only needed 0.5 and 1.0 corrective glasses for nearsightedness but they had huge corrections for my astigmatism.

Open both eyes, zero to that.
Doesn't really help shrug. I practice with both eyes open anyway.

I do have glasses but I never wear them and don't require them for driving.
Try raising only the rear sight and look through that with dominant eye only. I’m gonna find a work around for you, fellow patriot.

Prism scopes my dude. The Primary Arms ACSS reticle is awesome. I have one for my AR, and I'll be getting a second for my AK.
Chinese junk!
Leopold VXR Patrol
All that is good about a red dot (easy to see/use in low light, close range).
All that is good about a traditional magnification scope (ballistic drop compensation reticle even without batteries, 1.5x-4x magnification).
In one 100% USA designed, machined, assembled and packaged optic.
Call it junk if you want, but it fits my needs fine. I really don't have a reason to drop $700 on an optic, but I'm sure it's excellent.

Dayuum thats a pretty penny though. Better be good

Plan to give something like that a go.
I've been researching these, I'm thinking of the 2x mag version. Must be awesome scopes if you're buying 2.
I mean, I'm just one random dude on the internet. Definitely do your own research and draw your own conclusions.
