They then cross referenced it with social media tags of Shia locations and found rental cabins in those areas... and found photos of people who stayed in those cabins to compare the woodgrain of the walls to the one Shia posted his video of when he stook up the new flag (which was not at the cabin itself). Then once they got close they drove around honking their horn and triangulated in on it from listening on the stream to get its exact location.

It's a message board that's almost completely anonymous. No user names, each post and comment just gets a sequential number. The is almost zero moderation / censorship, so it's the probably the closest thing to absolute freedom of speech that exists anywhere in society today. The people at 4chan are incredible, I honestly have no clue how they do the things they do.
It’s all a puzzle to them I suspect.
My mom’s truck got hit in a parking lot by another truck who fled the scene. I got a name(not the offender) and was able to find out who it was. Showed my dad a picture of who I thought it was on Facebook and he was like “THAT’S HER!” Police said they couldn’t do anything. My dad spoke to the coroner who is a old work colleague of his and used to work as a detective. He said “Let me take care of it.” He sent a trooper to her house and their insurance covered the damage.
So I guess determination and the puzzle makes it a game. People broadcast so much of their lives on social media it makes it simple in a lot of cases.

There are mathematical methods to solve inverse problems in astronomical imaging (particularly useful in radio astronomy) involving inverse Fourier transforms, etc. The deep-learning stuff is used for more ill-posed problems like grainy security footage.
I suspect they used deep-learning A.I. tech in de-blurring the blurry cell-phone and potential security footage, then compared to known wigger meth-heads with BLM neck tattoos.

I am super interested in how you pull information out of that because classical mathematics suggests grainy footage where no more detailed information exists is, in fact, the Void.
But let me take a guess. I did not look this up. Does it involve statistical analysis of noise patterns and a "best guess" as to the actual photometric image that the sensor was exposed to based on what input light would have most likely caused the sensor noise pattern to look the way it did?

Probably uses a Metropolis-Hastings algorithm (with additional parts) to search the parameter space of representative underlying images that give a best likelihood of approximating the given (grainy) image, given information about the noise levels. So yes, a statistical analysis of sorts -- which potential crispy image gives the best approximation of the grainy image when blurred in a similar manner. Something like that.
The autists mostly use it to de-blur grainy images of their stupid sexy friends so they can schwack it when they get sad. But the power is there for solving these types of social problems.

I found the guy’s Facebook, looked through his posts and checked the comments. Found a female who called him her uncle or something. Went to her Facebook and showed my dad and he said that was her.
He went to the restaurant and asked if they thought it was her and they said 100%.
I found the guy’s address and apparently the truck belonged to him. The police acted like they couldn’t do anything. My dad happened to see his law enforcement friend(my dad isn’t law enforcement, he knew him from another job) and told him about the incident and what we found. Within a couple of hours the responding officer was at the guy’s house and found the truck with visible damage.
My mom was in the car at the time of the incident so the whole time I was looking for the chick I was thinking “Nobody messes with my mom.”

Lots of deep learning code to do superresolution of faces is floating around on github and someone will have used one of them. You just download the code, tweak it and run it.
