I found an instagram account in the teen's name. If that's really him, this was no innocent kid, and I'd want to get a lot more information before getting too worked up about this. Not that I think the registered sex offender who shot him isn't a vile person who shouldn't be running loose in free society, but there may be a lot more to the story.
