I mean, say whatever you want about Bill Barr, I'm still on the fence with him. But, I can say that he did have the foresight to appoint John Durham. His reputation for being a straight shooter, and having lead investigations for both Democrats and Republicans in the past, basically means they can't call his findings into question without raising doubts about previous investigations.

The only investigation that Sessions started was the Clinton Foundation investigation. Sessions didn't appoint him to that. That was lead by U.S. Attorney for Utah, John Huber, starting in November 2017.

The Durham investigation didn't even start until May 2019, under Bill Barr.

He was literally "investigating" on behalf of people he put into those positions. The entire thing literally screamed "conflict of interests" from the very beginning.
Now, Durham on the other hand. Durham's biggest claim to fame was busting FBI agents for racketeering and corruption. It's a totally different ball game.
