Some of the growth in crime in the late 50s and 60s can be explained by lead poisoning which caused brain damage especially in people of lower socioeconomic classes who were more likely to breathe in the lead being pushed out by cars in high traffic urban areas. People with brain damage caused by lead poisoning are much more likely to have lower IQs and weaker emotional control along with a higher level of life frustration which can lead to more violent outbursts.
The elimination of lead in gasoline and paint in the late 1960’s and early1970’s led to less brain damage in the children who were born or grew up at that time.
Abortion becoming legal in 1973 explains why crime didn’t keep booming upward into 1990’s. Given the increase in the CIA sponsored drug trade of drugs like crack-cocaine in the 1990s, the fact that crime didn’t double from 1975 is actually very surprising.
I don’t like abortion but the fact that the black community is a big consumer of that service meant that fewer unwanted children were being born. It is a fact that unwanted children are much more likely to grow to be criminals.
Destruction of nuclear families, destruction of our common values/culture via identity politics, victimhood, celebration of ghetto culture, less religion, etc.
Why use 30 year old facts? What is the total today? I hate to be that guy, but the major drop off in crime statistics in the past 30 years is due in part to abortion. It is the only argument I have ever found true for a pro abortion stance.
I am not pro choice or pro life, in some cases I am anti choice and anti life.
