Astoria, home of The Goonies and sanity.

You're getting a few comments about how bad Astoria is. I've been there twice since 2017. Being from the SF Bay Area, I like to call it SF without all the urban sprawl, shit and feces. Same cute little Victorian houses everywhere, lots of little hills. Pig N Pancake is better than Denny's.

Goonies house, Astoria Film Museum, all cool. For a few years the lady that owns the Goonies house was turning people away because they were being disrespectful, but she's recently allowed people to walk up the driveway again.

Wife and I's plan is to get telework jobs and move out of this crazy state to Astoria. California just approved SB-145 so you better hide your kids.

A lot of effort has gone into restoring the Victorian architecture, and most houses in the city have great views of the mouth of the Columbia river.

Unfortunately, there are few good dinner places. The only really good dinner restaurant is Drina Daisy, owned by a Bosnian family.

and JobCore along with the Coast Guard.

Also I don't think that's fair about the food, some great fish and chips in town, also at least 2 really good breakfast spots.

Clatsop County and Astoria are are pretty strange mix. The county has been voting Democrat for decades (including 1984) but there are also a lot of people who go here to drop off the radar. When I was a child in Clatsop County growing dope in the wild was pretty much the only way to make money. The economy was terminally in recession. The country often voted against any conceivable form of economic development. So it's a real mixed bag. You'd have to live there to sort it out.
