Courts and Congress have time and again shown that they couldn't give a damn what our natural rights are - they'll interpret and twist the law to grow the government. They've used the commerce clause and the "good and plenty" clause to do whatever they want even WITH the bill of rights. Explicit restrictions are the only thing that have slowed them down.
I guarantee you if there wasn't a first amendment we would no longer have freedom of speech. It might have lasted until this generation, when Big Tech and SJW culture took over and changed everything, as it's done to Canada and western Europe.
