Here's an idea: Have a large community outreach with local Sheriff's offices and local P.D.'s and hold weekly gun safety classes for new gun owners where the citizens can learn the local gun laws and ordinances and learn now to properly handle a gun, how to take it apart, how to clean it, etc...

It is also a good way to get some "face time" with citizens and the police, especially in inner city and minority neighborhoods. Let the citizens know that a well armed law abiding populace are the un-official un-deputized extension of official LEO.
