I still say there has to be more to the story. I think some of these NBA players, James in particular, are being paid directly by the CCP. He's too wealthy and too proud to allow his speech to be controlled because of an NBA contract. If he's acting as a Chinese mouthpiece, and he absolutely is doing that, it's because he's getting paid very well to do so.
