The rules are supposed to constantly be changing so that you are unable to ever know what is actually correct and you are always looking to the "correct" authority figures. That's why they're now trying to get people to wear them in their own homes.

Wow, Christian numerology would have a field day with you saying that, then getting six downvotes.

My local Walmart has someone outside literally dressed up a cop. Uniform and a badge. They're a Walmart employee placed there to intimidate people to wear masks. No joke.

How "correct" of an authority figure is that?

Walmart is China's bitch so it's not surprising.

Wal-Mart reversed their policy on masks almost immediately. They won't challenge you for fear of violence. So play up that angle and watch what happens. Do learn your State's laws for assault, because it can be purely verbal. But they're chickenshit.

Belac186 24 points ago +28 / -4

Just walk by them. They can't legally stop you. If they physically try and stop you then you can sue.

19
DinosaurAlert 19 points ago +26 / -7

They can't legally stop you.

Sure they can, it is private property. I can say you’re not allowed in my house unless you wear pink panties on your arm and thats OK.

26
Belac186 26 points ago +27 / -1

Walmart has a corporate policy that explicitly states they can't stop you

14
HockeyMom4Trump 14 points ago +14 / -0

Your house sounds like fun! lol

14
rossiFan 14 points ago +14 / -0

pink panties

Go on....

throwrightt 5 points ago +8 / -3

False equivalency. Wal-Mart is not a private residence and is open to the public. If there is no codified law requiring a mask, you are under no legal obligation to wear it. They have not authority to act like cops, but you have a right to get their badge number, name and supervisor's contact info should they try.

Stores that are open to the public are considered “public accommodations”. They have to abide by civil rights laws, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Your own private home is not open to the public, so you can make your own rules.

https://civilrights.findlaw.com/enforcing-your-civil-rights/discrimination-in-public-accommodations.html

“At the federal level, the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in a wide range of places of public accommodation, including facilities that offer lodging, food, entertainment, sales or rental services, health care and other professional services, or recreation. State and local governments must eliminate any eligibility criteria for participation in programs, activities, and services that screen out or tend to screen out persons with disabilities, unless the government can establish that the requirements are necessary for the provision of the service, program, or activity. In addition, public facilities must ensure that individuals with disabilities are not excluded from services, programs, or activities because buildings are inaccessible.”

All they can really do is notify a manager that you walked in, who (if they care to) will approach you and try to persuade you to put on a mask. If you don't comply then they ask you to leave, after which they can call the cops and have you arrested for trespassing. (if they ask you to leave, just leave. Don't want to actually break real laws.)

NormaJeanRocks 5 points ago +5 / -0

This right here, happened to me. I just left my cart full of food and walked out like they asked.

2
Two_Scoops__ 2 points ago +2 / -0

Except lots of counties including mine are not enforcing the mask mandate so if you call they transfer you to the health department

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

I wonder about the legality of this. I doubt they have a leg to stand on. I'm not sure.

I’ve got a locally owned grocery store in my town of 50k, all the other places to get groceries are mask required, but this place doesn’t care. Some are in there with masks, some not. They do have the plexiglass shields at the checkout but the store employees do not wear masks.

3
NonyaDB 3 points ago +3 / -0

If they physically try and stop you then you can sue.

Kansas is a Constitutional-Carry, Stand-Your-Ground state.
And that's why none of the stores here are trying any of this crazy bullshit.
The quickest way to get shot outside of just existing in Chicago is to grab a Kansan.

Any property owner can have someone removed and trespassed.

7
brandnewvoter 7 points ago +7 / -0

that's right but that don't mean they can touch you before said trespass

5
throwrightt 5 points ago +7 / -2

entering a store that is open to the general public is not trespassing.

3
CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +4 / -1

No owner is anywhere near a Wal-Mart. And trying to get their board odf directors to act will take months. They've already decided, they won't press the issue for fear of violence. Most National chains have.

11
PhD_in_everything 11 points ago +11 / -0

If they look too much like a cop it’s probably illegal in your state.

3
The_Almighty_Kek 3 points ago +3 / -0

Looks juuuust enough different to where you can tell they're not, but a lot of unobservant or dumb people won't pick up on the difference. Kinda like a security guard/mall cop thing.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is called "conditioning." Get everyone used to obeying illegitimate authority and you can get away with murder. Fight it at every turn, give no quarter!

9
Capitalism_Fuck_Yeah 9 points ago +9 / -0

Wait are they impersonating a police officer? That is a crime.

1

1

Governor Baker made a feeble attempt to get that started in MA. Didn't hear too much other than a couple news articles and then nothing.

5
PhD_in_everything 5 points ago +5 / -0

That’s the worst about it. I have no idea where’s exactly masks are mandatory so I’m pretty sure I’m wearing mine more than I have to.

20
VoidWanderer 20 points ago +20 / -0

You shouldn't be wearing one at all. It's security theater in nature and outright intentional manipulation to see who will comply with useless mandates.

18
MakeAmericaLegendary 18 points ago +18 / -0

security theater

This is the term that everybody should know.

1
u_yeetus 1 point ago +2 / -1

What's a Security Theater? I couldn't find much on DDG. Thanks!

The_Almighty_Kek 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's the way to do it. You don't end up breaking a single law, you don't instigate any kind of conflict that people can plaster all over social media to make you look like a moron, and you show them that you're principled and would rather take your business to someone who won't infringe on your medical rights.

7
The_Almighty_Kek 7 points ago +7 / -0

Wearing yours anywhere but a hospital is more than you have to. I even refused at my dentist's office (empty waiting room, no other patients) and they didn't persist. Even got them to use the temperature gun on my arm instead of my head (I don't like those fuckin things shoved in my face)

Most of the shit they're telling us we have to do is toothless and we don't have to do it.

3
CuomoisaMassMurderer 3 points ago +3 / -0

70% of all patients admitted to NYC hospitals with CCPvirus had NO fever.

2
NuclearDreams 2 points ago +2 / -0

Temperature checks are absolute bullshit. Supposedly the virus can be transmitted by asymptomatic people, because that's the excuse behind the mask mandates. Well how the fuck are you going to detect a fever in someone who is asymptomatic?

We have to go through temperature screening at my office and the person doing it doesn't even look at the monitor half the time. They just wave you on without a seconds hesitation.

3
HockeyMom4Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, that won't happen.

8
VoidWanderer 8 points ago +8 / -0

You say that but there are people wearing them, alone, in their cars, as they're driving around. There are way to many NPC's out there that have no free will of their own and do whatever the magic glowing boxes in their living room and pocket tell them to do.

3
HockeyMom4Trump 3 points ago +3 / -0

You know, you are right. It probably will happen, but not in my home.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

There are already people wearing them in their own home. At least for zoom calls and such. And they make no pretense about it being nothing but security theater.
