That's it Pedes,

I just sent the letter to my landlord informing them I'm moving out in 30 days.

I'm a business owner, in fact my husband and I run 3 business in the "Golden State" (an ironic name now a days) We pay thousands of dollars in LLC fees alone, our electric bill is over $1200 a month for our small factory, We pay nearly half our income in taxes and we and our tax dollars are leaving this shithole.

It's bitter sweet for me, I was born and raised in California by a based family who loved this state, I'm old enough to remember when it was a purple state and still affordable for most people. I grew up in a nice house, half way between the mountains and the ocean. We spent summers swimming every day and winters snowboarding or off roading. It was a pretty ideal life for a working class family. Over the past 15 years I've watched our state slide into the gutter.

Unlike most Californians with goldfish memory I know the exact moment when our state tipped the scales into an unrecoverable spiral to hell it was when Californians passed Prop 14 in 2010. LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ALL LIBERTARIANS, TEA PARTY, CONSTITUTIONALIST OR ANY OTHER 3RD PARTY GROUPS. They sold this proposition to us as a way to "get third party candidates a chance to be on the ballot" They said if we passed this prop that we'd have more choice, we'd be able to cast our primary vote for a 3rd party and not feel like we "wasted" our vote. THEY LIED. What ended up happening is we got LESS choice, in most Californian elections THERE ARE NO REPUBLICANS ON THE BALLOT AT ALL, there are only democrats, no green party, no libertarians, just DNC approved puppets... how is this possible? Well prop 14 changed our primaries so there is only one ballot for the primaries and the top 2 vote getters by quantity move through to the final election. Previous to prop 14 we had the old style primary ballots, one for democrats and one for republicans where the winner of each primary would pass through to the final election. Yes it prevented third parties from winning but the solution was worse than the problem. Essentially they changed it from a republic style voting system to pure mob rule democracy, the cities ALWAYS out vote the suburbs and rural areas. THIS IS A MICROCOSM OF GETTING RID OF THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE. The worst part is no one remembers this prop, and a ton of people moved here after the prop passed and have no idea it even exists. They wonder why every politician is a democrat and don't have the sense enough to look into it.

Political amnesia, how could we ever hope to repeal such a "good sounding" prop... 'don't you want more choice in politics?' the left argues without looking at the results which only benefit DNC candidates.

So I hope other Cali pedes see this and realize the source of our problem, I hope pedes in other states see this and prevent it from happening in your state.

I'm ensuring I can vote Trump 2020 in my new state where my vote will actually count. Don't worry I'm sure as hell not bringing any Cali virus with me, fuck this states government. Besides my husband is from the state we're moving too so really he is just bringing home a new wifey he found while out on his late 20's viking raid.

Thank God, us based Lady Cali pedes need red state men to come rescue us, it's rough out here if you want a real man. I had to teach my college boyfriend how to light a pilot light for the love of pete!

True, but IMO the downward spiral really began with Prop 187. I've never even lived in CA but even I was completely disgusted by how that went down.

18
Monkey_Block 18 points ago +18 / -0

Yeah, this. Prop 187 showed that the people clearly have no say in California.

11
zuccherina 11 points ago +11 / -0

Wow. I just looked that up. Would have prohibited giving to illegal aliens and mandated reporting. It passed, but a judge ordered a permanent injunction to subvert the will of the people. Disgusting.

California is going to try and continue to tax you and your businesses after you leave.

I believe the state would be able to confiscate any property left in state. That's about it.

7
Fourtyandfourtyfive 7 points ago +7 / -0

I’d burn it down or “sell” to a charity for 1$ before I’d let Newslime confiscate it!!!

2
Phins360_FL 2 points ago +2 / -0

they could put liens on you and put out a warrant as well.

2
BourbonDave 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes, but those can't cross state lines without agreement.

2
CatoWasRight [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

My husband was telling me about this, they also want to be able to audit back 10 years! It's so absurd.

Luckily all of our businesses are out of state, we just have Nexus here because we manufacture in the state. So hopefully that helps us cut ties.

Definitely consult with attorneys and/or accountants that have experience with leaving California. I'm sure there is a growing number of them out there. It's possible your new state may be able to recommend someone.

Great post! I'm in WA State, where the Dems have done the same thing. Many times, no Republicans to vote for. Top two vote getters on the ballot. Veddy clever, those commies.

They say California is 10 years ahead... If so the future looks dim. We have to work really hard to have good optics as conservatives so normies come to our side.

The amount of elitists here is shocking really. Ever since the 2016 election SO MANY people I thought were normal 'creative' people have revealed themselves as horrendous elitists. I was having a political discussion with a lefty friend (who is very open to discussion I give him credit) but he literally told me, people who don't communicate in a 'conscious way' aka lead with feelings and speak in a feminine manner, don't deserve to have an opinion. As a daughter of a blue collar MAN I was shocked, my dad was so much more aware of the way the world works than my sheltered tech industry friend I could not even comprehend him thinking 'regular' people don't deserve an opinion because they speak bruskly!

But it did show me why they hate Trump although he has enacted many things they agree with (prison reform, opportunity zones) it's simply because he sounds "mean" to them!

They are basically toddlers with too much power.

It's true. Im not from there but I've heard of this before through other pedes. Essentially the mob rules so the top two candidates can be dem against dem and republicans get zero representation. It's fucked up. I know it's a lot of hard work and takes years and years, but shit like this needs to be challenged. So many unconstitutional laws have gone through because people weren't challenging it or they didn't want to go through the appeal process. Real republicans with some money ought to take a stand for us, instead of moaning about it on fox news.

Yes - I left - a disgusted red voter. So the Democrats get that prop on the ballot and proceed to cheat so there are few, if any, Republicans on the ballot. Known as a "Jungle Primary" for good reason.

4
Lasheric 4 points ago +4 / -0

Our last election we had to choose from two Democrats for senator. No R on the main ballot

23
Industry4 23 points ago +23 / -0

Oh man. That's so sad. I had dreams of moving to California when I was younger, but no way now. A lot of people here are scared that the migration out of California is going to be bringing leftist voters that will turn their states blue. But, I think it's just the opposite. Most of the people leaving California are conservatives who have had enough. This is going to be a net gain to the conservatives in the states that these people move to.

12
SpezDispenser 12 points ago +12 / -0

Its truly a mix of both. Look at young Californians with suspicion. More than likely priced out of the market. Look at older Californias more warmly. Probably sick of the bullshit.

It depends where you go.

I find that people in the Bay Area and LA end up hating it here, but if you go anywhere outside the cities it’s a lot better.

For example my rural county regularly elects Republicans to both the State and Federal legislatures. Like for the past fifty years.

1
CatoWasRight [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

It is so odd to watch CA switch from 'the promise land' to 'escape from LA' It's hard to say how the CA emigration will work out, if you look at Austin, Californians ruined it BUT a majority of them moved for jobs and cost of living before this current political upheval. I think the people fleeing now are more political refugees who tend to be more classically liberal or conservative so I think they will be a positive influence. Now there are some that are simply trying to take advantage of taxes, I have a friend who thinks he is going to sell his company next year so he "moved to florida" to save on capital gains tax... he claims to be a socialist but moves to avoid taxes...such a fraud. BUT as soon as he gets his payday he will probably move back to a liberal state so I don't think I'd count him as a true emigrant.

IN 2016, in the Presidential Election.

The Libertarian Candidate took 35,000 votes in New Hampshire - maybe 3-4%.

Trump lost NH to Hillary by 5,000 votes....

Nevada was not dis-similar.

Libertarian took 37,000 votes.

Trump lost NV by 27,000 votes.

Libertarians are GETTING DEMOCRATS ELECTED!!!

Please stop!

14
Boudicca2 14 points ago +15 / -1

absolutely true. The "Libertarian Party" is nothing but a device to siphon votes away from Republicans in close races. STOP VOTING FOR THEM. THEY DON'T WIN AND WON'T WIN and they are often times Deep State PLANTS (Evan McMullin)

13
HighVoltage 13 points ago +13 / -0

In all fairness, the Republicans do not own your vote any more than the dems own the black vote.

The real problem as I see it is that the republican party is a giant festering pustule on America. They are not actually conservative, and they are also authoritarian. In other words, they are just about the perfect opposite of what they say they are there to do.

In 2008, I was delighted to see John McCain lose. In 2012, I was delighted to see Romney lose. This doesn't mean I liked Obama - I found him a disgusting disgrace on our political landscape. But the reason Obama won is that the republicans shut out Ron Paul and went with the shilliest shill they could find.

3
Bane 3 points ago +3 / -0

I miss Ron Paul. Even drove to DC for a Veterans for Paul march. Hated Republicans since Bush's wars and patriot act, and learned from the anti-war marches I went to that I didn't fit in with the degenarate left either. So libertarian it was. Trump is so different from Republicans of 12 years ago. He's as far from McCain and Romney as he is Pelosi. When I voted Libertarian in 08 and 12, I knew they were just protest votes. In 16, voting for Trump was refreshing, as I was finally voting FOR rather than AGAINST.

2
Boudicca2 2 points ago +2 / -0

Of course they don't own my vote. But Libertarianism is weak sauce, especially now that Lefties have infiltrated it. No thanks. If a person votes for a Libertarian in the presidential election this year they're basically just handing that vote to SnifferBiden and CommieLa

1
HighVoltage 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree. In this election and in the 2016 election, this holds water. In previous years it did not.

13
powershellder 13 points ago +13 / -0

Trump is the most libertarian candidate we’ve had in at least 60 years.

3

Btw they(Californians 1998~)came to colorado the same era that fierce localism died at surfspots throughout ca. These people love their land, I hope they would fight for theirs but I am not naive enough to belive all fights are winnable. I know the lessons learned from failure to fight can follow them I bet it wont though. So my informal motto for my home state of "Come as you are" stands...get in here pedes.

I agree. Avoid Denver, Ft Collins and Colorado Springs (anywhere on highway 25) Avoid any town on I70 (ski corridor). Avoid Estes Park and Lyons and Nederland. Too liberal touristy. Nederland has become an angry communist antifa haven, when it used to be cool, laid back liberatarian outlier pot smoking hippie prepper community that like to hike and ski. They ruin everything.

Here are some nice places in colorado if you aren't a city person

  • Bailey
  • Westcliffe / Silvercliffe area
  • Conifer
  • Morrison
  • Rye
  • Evergreen
  • Gennessee
  • Cotopaxi
  • Buena Vista
  • Leadville (touristy, but area is amazing)
  • Anywhere in the lost creek wilderness
  • Or Pike National Forest
  • Or the Mount of the Holy Cross Area (amazing, astonishingly beautiful and otherworldly)
  • Grand Lake area
  • Carbondale
  • Durango
  • Telluride

This is all very familiar to me. Same situation, my family has been in California since before the gold rush. My grandma proudly proclaims she grew up in the Model City of Compton. It’s my home and heritage, and I know that this beautiful place has so much more than the horror stories that we hear. I moved out of state for college, and I always dreamed that I’d return. Now, I don’t know if I can take my family there in good conscience. The political class in that state are ensuring their hold over the state can’t be undone. The consolation is: you’re not alone. There’s more of us who mourn for our homeland. And second, the pioneering spirit is the spirit of the West. To boldly go to a new land, and build a new home there. And there’s plenty of opportunity across our great nation.

2
CatoWasRight [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Beautifully written. 👏 The pioneering spirit is what I love about OG California, that do-it-your-self, gun slinging, wave surfing, do anything any time, innovative spirit! It's so attractive, which was it's downfall, once those pioneers tamed the west enough for timid east coasters and foreigners to move in, the culture was diluted beyond recognition. Now people act out the mythology of that old California but don't have the spirit.

It's so cool your family has been here that long! Not many families have. Mine came out in the 50's after my grandmother left her abusive alcoholic husband. She had nothing but her two boys and a car full of clothes but she ended up managing a store and building a great life in a little city that was surrounded by orange groves nick-named 'the hollywood of the east' called Pomona, which by the time I was a kid was the homicide capital of the inland empire... LOL how times change.

Don't come back, yet. All things have a life cylce, from bugs to humans to states, the California we knew is currently going through the death process. It may take a long time but it will be re-born again, perhaps we can retire back to our old stomping grounds when they are back to their former glory in the 2050s :)

Or sooner if they ever pull off the State of Jefferson. 🤞

I’ve been in Cali for 20 years and the shit I see these idiots vote for... For instance, a 3/4 vote was needed to pass new taxes so the democrats passed new “fees” instead. A judge ruled that it was illegal because a fee is obviously a tax so the next election these dumb fucks voted to give the legislature the power to pass new taxes with a simple majority.

Florida / Georgia border have lots of based farming towns. Mostly agriculture and timber. A slice of Americana exists here. I'm rural just outside a town of < 3,500. No jets, no ghetto birds with spotlights, no crime, and decent schools.

Being from Las Vegas the summers on me are brutal with all the humidity and of course you'll contend with possible hurricanes every year.

Lots of hunting, fresh and salt water fishing, kayaking, hiking, camping. 3 hours to Daytona for me, Orlando is another half hour more.

1
CatoWasRight [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

No jets. I'm sold!

What's the hunting situation? In NorCal I have a group of ladies we go goose hunting quite a bit and deer hunting once in a while... I imagine it's more than boom sticking alligators from an air boat? :)

2
grenades_and_ham 2 points ago +2 / -0

Possibly, but I was not alive then so am not as informed on that. I just know the state was pretty good in the 90's and 00's then it took a hard left, literally.

I mean the fact that parts of orange country went blue after prop 14 tells me something.

Sadly, no Republican has a chance in hell of winning here. I do believe its possible, but the RNC needs to push the right candidates. Which type of candidate do you ask pray tell? Hispanic Republicans. Get a Devin Nunes type to run for Governor and it will be a hell of a lot closer. Hate to go with identity politics, but every GOp candidate thats runs for state office is milquetoast. I cant even remember last person I voted for last election. Dame before that was Meg Whitman. You're making the smart move. We are on the road to civil war (hope we get off it but right now we are on it) and you need to be in friendly territory.

It's sad what has happened to a beautiful and idyllic state

Best of luck, friend. Sad you're giving much up but sometimes the cut has to be made.

If I've learned anything in life it's that great things require great sacrifice and if God needs me to do this work to have a sustainable life I can thrive in, I'm willing to do it! Thanks for the well wishes!

This is an excellent post, however I disagree.

The problem is not the Prop 14, which essentially makes the primaries the real vote, and the vote a ballottage. The problem is the electorate.

Since Reagan legalized millions of illegals in the 80s, the Republicans never won a Presidential election in California. And this of course is mostly true down the ballot.

The only way to solve the situation in California is now to watch it spiral down until people realise that they need to change, and vote Republicans in. It might well never happen, but I don't see any other alternative... do you?

very good post that illustrates the inherent danger of democracy, especially ones where the masses are easily led. i wish you and your husband better luck in your new state.

Come to NH. Close to the beach. Mountains for hiking and skiing. Close to Boston. No income tax.

“Live free or die”

We need an influx of Republicans to stem the blue bleed from Boston.

Coloradan here considering NH!

After this election we need to seriously consider going on the offensive big time. We have made the serious mistake of ignoring Democrat strongholds for too long.

Cali Pede here. You are 100% right on Prop. 14. That one prop.broke the State of CA's primary system of top Republican & top Dem. running off for any office. Still, there are a lot more conservatives here than people realize, We can come back.

Sounds like Amendment 64 here in Colorado. Not a new law on how elections are held, just a marijuana legalization amendment that brought in all the losers from around the country who now overwhelmingly vote blue.

California has been in freefall since the amnesty for illegal immigrants in the 80's.

As a former cali resident I was going to comment about the jungle primary system ruining the state before I even read your post. I'm glad more people are waking up to how the left has gerrymandered the entire goddamned state.

It's awesome to hear of another (former) Cali-pede who remembers the soft coup that ruined the best state.

Jesus I lived in CA in 2010 and didn't know. That's madness. It's literally single party rule, Chinese style communism.

What is the difference really if all candidates are funded by the same pocket.

I'm in the process of dumping WA state. I didnt have near the roots there but I'm taking my 6 figure job and its taxes out of WA state and to warmer, sunnier skies! The brain drain is on in these liberal shitholes

I remember that being a big deal at the time then radio silence after. Never knew what it entailed.

CatoWasRight [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

At least you remember it! So many props in CA are like this... all kinds of fan fare about how it will save the world then radio silence.. WTF happened to our 3 billion dollar bullet train?
