Got tired of hypocrites, and watching people lead double lives. Cost me 20 years of friends and all my family to escape. They hold people hostage with the threat of stunning (called Disfellowshipping) Most people can't handle that loss and stay in.
I have adult kids my parents have never met, I don't even know if my parents are still alive.
I still didn't realize it was a cult till years later when I broke the conditioning and did research from outside sources. Reddit actually had quite a community of exjw it is one of the few communities I miss from there. 90% of it buys into the MSM and were still rabid anti Trump though. Some people move from one cult to another.
Totally worth it to raise my kids free of that cult.
I bet your kids are glad too. So sad, I followed the ex-cult subs on reddit too. Lots of sad stories of abuse in cults. Do you have any advice on what to do, (or not do) inhelping a newly escaped person?
I'm so very glad you got out friend. I've talked with JWs, it's like speaking to a brick wall..how'd you get out of it?
