Name a super metro area, lacking affluent people that isn't rife with problems.

Here in OC/LA, the break point for 'decent place to live' seems to be about when average home values are over $1M.

My parents just sold their home for $800k and moved up for exactly the reason that they felt the neighborhood went to shit, and was only going to get worse from there.

Can you non-CA pedes even imagine living in an (old, non-luxurious) home worth $800k and still having homeless on every corner, shit on the streets, rampant theft, numerous local gangs etc?

If this is NY's stance, it's going to look like "Escape from New York" in 80 years.
