We don't test asymptotic people for the flu. We aren't going to test people for MRSA or Hepatitis without symptoms either. We are at the point where this disease should be treated the same way.
The New York Times' position is like saying that everyone who walks into a doctor's office or clinic should be tested for AIDS every single time.
We don't test asymptomatic people because they don't have symptoms at all. In order to do what the NYT wants the literal entire US population would need to be tested. I imagine we'd get the results of that somewhere around November 4th.
So what CDC guidelines are they bitching about being wrong now?
