Hm, that made me think. We always talk about it the other way around. But if enough red voters move to a blue state, can they flip it?

The thing is no normal person ever wants to move to blue states. But what about New Mexico? Lots of beautiful land and small population, so it would be easy to flip. It was red as recently as 2004.

Just as many votes for Trump in 2016 out of California as there was in Texas.

There are more conservatives in liberal states than most conservative states

Yes, maybe even more than Texas.

If enough liberals leave a blue state, could it flip back red? All interesting propositions.

Millions may have fled NY, but at least for this elections cycle they are most likely still on the voter rolls, and will continue to vote left on their way out the door.

There's no need to flee red states though

No, but they might be red voters looking to flee other blue states. For example a Californian fed up with California decides to move to New Mexico and votes red there.

I don't see it as a project or anything but it could happen.

Dude have you been alive the last 20 years? Plenty of states have been flipped blue with California and New York transplants.

Oregon, Colorado, New Mexico, soon to be Florida and Texas

Yes, I'm fully aware of that. I live in Texas.

I'm musing about the possibility of Republican California transplants flipping blue states to red.

As I said "we always talk about it the other way around" - liberal transplants turning red states to blue. I'm wondering if the phenomenon could potentially work in our favor, not against us.

I certainly hope so. It's tough to say the demographics of the fleeing Californians

That's true. Here in Texas, though, I'm definitely meeting conservative transplants. Just in our small lib neighborhood I've met four for sure and a few more I suspect.

The problem is they're very cagey (understandably) and assume everyone they meet is a leftist and they have to be careful about expressing their views. So it takes time to figure it out.
