Is mail-in voting legal to do for every state or not ? Obviously people are protesting its use, and I hear states using mail-in voting for the past primaries, but is mail-in voting permitted in the presidential election in November?

I thought Absentee ballots were the only other form of voting permitted ?

Is mail-in voting something that can be permitted on a state by state basis? Is there anything we can do - at a national level - that can prevent any form of mail-in voting to be permitted at a state level ?

I just don't understand how states can just decide to mail out ballots for people to fill in and call that permissible?

Do we protest mail-in voting at a state level? Do we protest mail-in voting at a national level ?

Is mail-in voting ALREADY permitted currently, or is this being PUSHED to be acceptable ?

What exactly IS the current status of mail-in voting for the November election ?

Depends on your state.

EVERY STATE has Absentee Voting... which makes the voter request a ballot officially, and verifies the voter is legal via the process...

Mail-In voting automatically sends ballots to voters - who then mail them back in. They too are protected via various security measures. (I don't like it, you should 'go to the polls')

But not all States have a 'Mail-In' system in place... and it is NOT EASY TO SET UP A SYSTEM LIKE THAT... certainly can not do it from scratch in 100 days or so.

Most states can barely clean their voter rolls correctly.

States run elections, so mail-in voting policy will vary state to state.

They've been pushing this shit for more than ten years, but they never had the votes to pass it. Now they're terrorizing people with the virus to shove all kinds of legislation down our throats. That alone is sufficient reason for me to tell them to fuck off. I don't care about voting by mail, I'm just not going to allow myself to be strong-armed by these crooks.

and don't let them fool you. mail in voting and absentee ballots are NOT the same thing.

It's my understanding that each state determines their own rules in regards to how votes are cast. It's my understanding that a state could say that only mail in votes are permitted or only in person voting with ID is permitted. Then if people wish to challenge that process, someone from that state must sue in a state court and eventually it could be challenged in SCOTUS.

That said, I think it should be a priority in February next year to pass federal laws that do govern the voting process and make them uniform throughout the states. However, I think that would require a constitutional amendment. That is unless Article 1 Section 8 Clause 1 of the constitution can somehow be used. But even-though I have heard a few people float that Idea, I don't think that section will work because it's specifically about taxes. Although I think it could possibly be argued that doing so could be an act of "common defense and general welfare".

How can states just 'decide' to enact mail-in voting?

It will leave tremendous opportunities for ballot harvesting - with no real way to stop it. Or verify the votes that were collected. Then the election is contested for weeks/months and never gets resolved.

I just don't see how individual states can permit/employ mail-in voting without some sort of agreed upon standard of verification - and one that would have to be approved on a national level.

Also, how/why do you make the case that mail-in voting is needed when you already have Absentee voting?
