As for the women not wanting to be an old spinster... yeah attachment to a husband was vital. Seems like a funny thing to say, but I've gotten slightly more sympathetic to Laban, wanting to marry his older daughter Leah before the younger Rachel, otherwise Leah might end up a spinster.

But again... people don't realize that the Torah prohibits the action of moral sexuality, not the desire. The leftists usually screech: "Why does G-d hate gay people?" The answer is the very term "Gay people" is a recent invention. Not sure if its Kinsley, but they made themselves sound like a separate ethnic group when really it's men or women with a specific form of sexual ideation. The Torah forbids the action. The ideation itself is not the sin. In fact, rewards for observing prohibitions are greater if you really want to make the violation. The man who loves shellfish but declines gets more credit than the one who is repulsed by shellfish. Keeping this kosher law is easy for the second. It would be challenging for the first. So if the first resists, he gets greater reward than the second. Likewise, someone with homosexual ideation fantasies and drive who avoids the homosexual sex act gets a greater reward than the man who has no interest whatsoever in homosexual activity.
