I have lurked since 2015, I finally registered to ask you, what is the name of the book describing the Soviet occupation of Lithuania?
I have never met my great grandparents on one side of my family. My grandfather came to America in 1941, he arrived on a boat at the age if 6, with his sister age 10.
One cannot imagine the circumstances that would lead a parent to send their children to America, knowing they would be killed by the authorities for doing so. They could not afford to go themselves, and we have never heard from them. We believe they died in a camp in Siberia, as we found records of a couple with identical first names (last names different, probably to protect my grandfather)
Our only family connection to Lithuania is a third cousin who found us, but his entire family was stripped away to gulag.

I would love to learn about my family's history.
Thank you.
