I'm not religious, but there are many things I believe we can all take from the Bible. The most relevant here is : "The Bible forbids debt". Perhaps more forcibly than murder.
I often hear Romans 13:8 as proof that any debt is evil. Though, to say that is taking the verse out of context. The point of that passage is to be loving toward others. In other words, do not allow longstanding debts to harm them or be a way for you "get back" at them (as one of the individuals above is doing).
It is technically impossible to always be debt-free.

Can you support that claim?

Whoever uses that verse to support the claim is doing so to be disproven.
Proverbs 22:7 sets forth the definition and Matthew 6:24 explains the position.
I actually didnt know that the bible said that.
