Important! +1 only allow your self to give into building yourself. Do important things. Community service, getting certifications, cleaning graffiti... anything... so long as you are building the habit of being productive. Hang in there. We support you.
Hell yes! I did this exact thing over all my free time on Sunday not watching football to study for a few IT certifications to get pay increases at work. Keep on keepin on homie
Are you voting for Trump in November? Then you’re doing your part, you’re not useless. If there’s any sanity left in this country, many, many Democrats are going to lose their jobs on 11/3, the country will open up again and Trump will bring the jobs back. Again.
And if the Left fucks around, well more of them will lose more than they’re jobs.
No way dude, don't even think that. I've been there. Depression is such a bitch because it tricks your brain into thinking things will never change. Things change, I promise.
That was probably a shill. Don't let them get into your head. A lot of people are struggling right now. Things will get better. You are NOT worthless. Life will get better.
No, no, no! You NEVER know what is just around the corner. Believe that the best is yet to come. Start attending a great church. Your life is important and YOU were created with a purpose in mind. Hang in through these tough times.
Don't give up. We've all been there. Granted no COVID... but don't beat yourself up. A lot of things are out of your control, at least you're trying. Reach out to friends for support. Keep at it! You'll get there, it just might take a while! Good luck!
It’s frustrating. Try being in the same employment situation but with a mortgage and family to support. Point being, it could always be worse.
You’re doing the best you can in a very depressing period of time, that’s called building character. The mindset you build now will either be an investment in yourself (how you retain your self-confidence in tough times yet to come) or it will destroy you (I.e. “fuck it, what’s the point”). You seem to practice the former and your language at the end of your post is a burst of justifiable frustration, nothing wrong with that.
Keep doing what you’re doing, the payoff will come.
It went badly because it was not your destiny to get that job. I've learned through much trial and tribulation that if a door closes, another one opens, or a window is cracked for temporary stuff. We all have times like yours. During my hardships, I never thought I'd see the end. Then years later, the end came for those sagas. I look back and now say to myself "how the hell did I live through all that?" Now I have confidence that I never had before. I have skills to help others in similar situations that had no where else to turn.
My dealings all at the same time were: abusive partner, a stalker, a real life black widow, a thief in my business (big bucks) huge IRS and state field audits, near death car accident from an asshole, and a bunch of other things.
Guess how fucking worthless I feeI? I contribute nothing to society and get a check from the government.
I'll take a wild guess that you still haven't taken as much from the government coffers as you've previously paid in. These government checks wouldn't be possible if it hadn't been for all the taxes paid by people like you when you were working. You really are very different from the many people who've been eagerly sucking from the government teat all their adult lives.
lol different strokes for different folks. I'm 40 min from the NH border and go there for the mountains but 40 min drive the other way gives me the ocean. I love it up here. Chin up fellow pede we are rooting for you.
You're not worthless. The fact that you're looking for a job means you're better than a lot of the people collecting checks. The reason/excuse for these checks in the first place is people like you. Fight it out - something better will come along.
I’ve been having a tough time finding a job in my field. I just decided to get a package delivery job to pay the bills. They’re hiring and pay enough for rent bills and some savings
Your job is looking for a job. Get up every morning, early, with your boomer grandparent covfefe, sit at your computer, go through the job boards, all day every day. Refresh them as often as you refresh TD.W. Call the ones you've sent resumes to, follow up any even vaguely related opportunities.
Look out of state, many places are offering modest relocation benefit to the hired.
Calm your tits Pede. Get ahold of yourself for one damn minute and realize this:
•YOU'RE NOT ALONE
•IT WILL GET BETTER
•KEEP PLUGGING AWAY
•STAY PERSISTENT
•STAY BASED
•WORKOUT AND GET YOUR BODY RIGHT
•GET YOUR MIND SHARPER
•BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, YOU WILL BE LIVING A LIFE 180 FROM NOW
The second you start to feel pity even for a second is the second you start to slip. Don’t ever feel sorry for yourself. Always keep things in perspective. The right mindset got me through divorce, living with the rents and other crap.
I'm glad that your "boomer" grandparents are there for you. If you paid your taxes and paid into unemployment there's no shame in using it. Keep your head up and count your blessings. This shit will pass.
I went for 18 months without a job once, between 2008 and 2010. Worst experience of my life. I had been to so many interviews and had gotten rejected so many times that I had just started going through the motions and expecting the same results. Nothing.
In fact I was so disillusioned by the time I got my current job that my interview for it was like the “two Bobs” meeting in Office Space. I was openly candid about everything, and acted like I didn’t give a fuck if I got the job or not. I’m still working there ten years later.
It all boils down to making them think that they need you more than you need them.
Good luck, it does get better eventually! You just gotta have faith.
Keep applying and keep trying. Although that interview may not have gone as you hoped it would, you can still learn from it and improve for the next interview.
Use this time to develop yourself in other ways. Sometimes misfortune is an opportunity to do something different. Keep your chin up you will get through this.
Pede. GO to NH anyway. Get a low paying janitorial or kitchen job. anything. a shit job. you will feel good, even though society tells you to feel bad about that. trust me. learn humility and be away from your parents.
I hear you, It’s compounded when your over 40 and have over 20years in a industry that no longer hires (Aviation). to be told your non competitive with every application made from driving mine trucks to labouring.
Pede, do not feel badly about accepting unemployment checks. Your former employers have paid into that fund on your behalf - with money they could have been paying you, if they were not forced to pay it into to the unemployment fund. So, it actually is your money, money that was seized from you without your agreement, and now is coming back to you.
This, too, shall pass. And yes, what someone said about sending thank you notes - it works. Send them as soon as you can after your future interviews. So few people do this, show that simple appreciation that anyone who does can't help but stand out. Also, followups can help.
The best is yet to come. Your future is brighter than your past. Stay persistent and the right opportunity will show up and it will be better than any thing you ever hoped for. MAGA is happening and we have just begun. "A rising tide raises all ships"
Hang in there, pede. One way or another the charade will be over after the election and things will be more or less back to normal. It's all been a huge scam to push mail-in voting. Just remember, it was the Dems who screwed you.
I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. Don't give up. Try to be grateful for what you have. I pray that you will find your way, and that life will give you every good thing.
YOU control it... YOU really do control it... the DAY IS YOURS.... not anyone else's.
Back to INDEED.COM - pick up a local job to 'get out of the house' - and keep networking...
It DOES NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT...
You have to slowly build your contact circles... and they are YOUR GROUPs... YOUR PEEPS.... take care of them...almost like a farmer cares for crops....
It is more about 'getting there' - then being there....
Keep trying to get jobs that you will be ok with (in nice areas, I might add), even if they're not dream jobs. I never got the dream job I wanted, but things actually worked out better for me in the end because I was able to save money, invest in the stock market, and get some other things set up. I have no debt. Just keep trying.
Construction sector is coming back strong in Detroit area. Just an idea: even if you can't get a job in your field, a temporary entry level construction job will get you in shape!
I went through 3 years of it under Obama. Keep your head up don't turn to alcohol or drugs as a solution . People are praying for you. 👍🇺🇸

OP has an opportunity to gain 2 more Trump voters. People trust their families more than anyone else.
Keep your head up, Pede

No worries, economy is already bouncing back and incline will only speed up once second term is secured.

What line of work? Lots of jobs in Maine close to NH only way better. But I'm biased.
I’m also biased. NH over Maine!

What do you do, pede? My company's highering and you can work remote.
You have a job. Right now. As I write this.
Your job is looking for a job. Get up every morning, early, with your boomer grandparent covfefe, sit at your computer, go through the job boards, all day every day. Refresh them as often as you refresh TD.W. Call the ones you've sent resumes to, follow up any even vaguely related opportunities.

Drat, we're not hiring office managers. Too bad, it would have been nice to have another Trump supporter in the office.
Space Force is hiring too: https://www.airforce.com/spaceforce
hang in there just a little longer, I would almost guarantee this shit will be over after Nov.3
This really upsets me, friend. Hold fast. Something unimaginably rewarding lies just over the horizon.
Try South Dakota.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
I'm glad that your "boomer" grandparents are there for you. If you paid your taxes and paid into unemployment there's no shame in using it. Keep your head up and count your blessings. This shit will pass.
That sucks man.

Lots of grocery stores and other places are hiring. Get something for now.
Keep applying and keep trying. Although that interview may not have gone as you hoped it would, you can still learn from it and improve for the next interview.
The Army is hiring?
never join up before an election. You dont want to put your life in the hands of a potential psycho

YOU WILL WIN.

Never give up. It will be so worth it. Be tenacious and thank God you have a roof and food. You got this!
You're going to get past this time in your life, and it's going to feel awesome.

Hang in there brother (sister?). It’s gonna be tough, but God rewards those who work hard and have faith.
There's construction happening constantly in the Midwest. Look up one of the states with lower unemployment rates and look for jobs there.
