You probably could shoot some helicopters down with one of these but it’s an anti-material rifle. So generally it’s used on people from really far away or for lightly armored sensitive equipment. It can also be used against lightly armored vehicles like trucks. It will go through an engine block at closer ranges.

In order to fully utilize a weapon like this, you can expect to drop about the same amount of cash as the rifle, if not more.
The guys who really know how to use one can hit targets over 3 miles away with one.

I'm pretty sure this is a 308 or something similar (338 lapua, 6.5, 6.8, or something else the government runs/allows). There are many features on this thing that tell me that such as a typical looking 30 cal can, the short action bolt and the magazine size.

Yeah people thinking thats a .50 cal are not seeing the mag well. This is a .308 or similar, with an extended barrel for higher velocity / range, and a thicker barrel to minimize flex and manage heat. This is more than enough to take down a man-sized target 300 yards away easily.

.50 Caliber, I think the ammo is like $10 a round. There's a bunch of diff sniper rifles in this caliber and a few machine guns (BMG). The longer ones are all over $10K. There's a Bushmaster that's less than $5K These prices might be outdated since everything went crazy in the gun market a few months ago.
As of a year ago the least expensive you could buy a single shot .50bmg was $2k. There is also a really stupid AR-15 upper that will shoot a .50bmg, it’s just as expensive and way stupider.
You could get .338 lapua mag bolt actions for around $1200 (I think Savage makes one).
Good ammo is going to be like $5 per shot minimum pre-pandemic, and you need somewhere you can shoot 2000 yards out.l to get the most of it.

Military wise, only speciality units have these and they typically have far more relaxed hair and beard standards, especially in theatre.

You're right--military are not allowed to have beards. Some police depts do allow beards now, but I believe special ops teams get a lot more freedom. Sometimes they need to fit in, sometimes depending on what weapon, pecking order, etc they get to have beards. Some police depts are allowing them to recruit younger blood.
Sheiks can have beards in the Army now and many SF units allow them for people to blend in better with their host environments.
