Portland has a lot of burnouts and losers in it. Part of its charm, really.

I'm just surprised this one could afford a car; usually they're on the MAX (light rail) leering at little girls or someshit.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I rode the Max to a doctor appointment and had a man ask me out on a date, like to get off the Max with him right then and “hang out.” The Max is awful. Also witnessed a domestic abuse incident that no one stepped in to stop and have had my train stopped by a swat team who stormed on board to take down and arrest a guy who was obviously a very bad dude.

It does get... interesting on there. You don't get bothered as much Westside out from Aloha to Hillsboro is pretty calm (because they're pretty much all Intel employees or contractors). That said, I took it once from PDX all the way to Hillsboro Fairgrounds... took like 2-3 hours, and it was a cavalcade of really screwball humanity. Between a couple straight-up dry-humping, an assortment of bums asking if you got change or a ciggie, and the occasional rando talking (or sometimes screaming) at himself? Not recommended for the kiddies, at all.

I'm a fairly tall dude (just a hair over 6'), not scrawny or fat, and I still somewhat know my way around a bar-fight thanks to my own partially-misspent youth. That said, there were times where I felt just a bit of unease while riding the thing.

If it were to burn down tomorrow, I don't think I'd really miss it all that much.
