I remember when people were outraged years ago when an in game funeral for one of the clan’s IRL friends had died got crashed and all the attendants killed during the ceremony.
The lesson? Don’t hold shit like this on a PvP server.
Or just don't hold that sort of shit in a game at all. Christ. I've been playing video games my whole life and even I cringe at the degree of pathetic nerd-dom required to have funerals for people in an MMO.
I dunno man. I play Eve and used to play Runescape (still keep in touch with my old clan). I've made IRL friends through those games and I would want to do something to memorialize them if I found out one of them died. Since MMO guilds are pretty spread out geographically, an in-game tribute is kinda the most viable option.
I wouldn't shout it to the world cause that's just saying "hey, please grief us" but I'd want to do something more than just accept that a friend is gone and move along with my day.

That was my guild, Serenity Now, though I wasn't in the raid.
I also bombed a funeral in Planetside with The Enclave.
Dick move but like I said, don’t host shit on PvP and expect nothing to happen. 🤷♂️

I think that’s a major problem in general, when digital life replaces actual real life interaction.

Haha... I love griefers
Illidan Alliance, respect
I heard that one time a guy went into a guild chat and sadly announced his brother, who was also a guild member, died IRL from Lyme disease.
Response: "Did he drop any good loot?
I feel bad for laughing
