I left WoW recently myself, but before I did, someone was in Stormwind yelling for others to start a BLM parade through the city, but no one was having it, mostly just ignoring them. Then the person got all pissy and started calling everyone racists. I was glad to see they got some pushback for that.
I love MMOs, but am usually happier with most of the channels muted. My husband often asks why I don't just play single-player games. I want to be around other people, I just don't want to communicate with them. lol
Most of the hardcore players are Horde. It started a long time ago with top end guilds switching to Horde because their racials are better in raids, and it caused a trickle down effect were almost everyone who cares about raiding is Horde. So Horde playerbase mostly consists of older players, while Alliance is played by young people.
Though that doesn't necessarily mean that one side is more based than the other. I've seen plenty of shit libs on Horde. Hell, my current guild in Classic has a decent number of the idiots who post covid memes mocking people who think it's overblown.
However, I will say this: Prior to Classic coming out, the private server community was extremely based. As in, there are videos of the best private server guilds saying a whole bunch of what a lot would consider racist shit, and their subreddit was filled with trash talk you would see on here. Though it was a lot more mean-spirited. They now make up probably a decent bulk of Classic WoW's population.
The last time I played Wow was with my wife before our first daughter was born... or when she was a baby. Must have been 5 or 6 years ago.... dang.
We never even got to max level or to raids. We'd just start over with difference race / class. Same race, male female, usually with names that were similar. Was kinda cute actually....

I usually only ever see pro-Trump things from the Horde in-between trolling whenever politics do pop up.
I am the same with not wanting to deal with people and generally being left alone. Other people are fine but aren't the attraction to it at all.
