I've spent a winter in South Dakota. There should be a special word for that type of cold. I kept wondering when a moose would show up (and bite my sister).
The idea of a San Francisco native transplanting there makes me laugh.
I transplanted from Texas and spent about 4 years there until work took me away. The winter isn't THAT bad if you prepare properly by getting the right winter gear. It's a hell of a steep learning curve though.
I am moving to South Dakota, I live on the coast now, but I have lived in Utah. Do you (or anyone else?) know how SD compares to Utah? What do I need to prepare clothing wise?
In Utah, if you didn't hang outside, you could get away with jeans, sturdy shoes, and a couple layers with maybe a columbia jacket. (if all you were doing outside was walking to/from your car)
I am weirdly prepared to answer, this, as I spent a couple years in Utah.
The biggest different I noticed in SD (I was in the Sioux Falls area) was the wind. The temps also got a good bit lower in SD than when I was in Salt Lake. I had a 3 block walk daily to my office from the parking garage, so I learned real quick how much the wind cuts through what you wear. What worked well for me was a good coat that breaks the wind, with a hat or hood, good gloves, and a scarf for the days when it's really windy or below -5. If you have any questions let me know!
I am still trying to find that out, because I am moving to South Dakota for exactly this reason. Still hard to get a full detailed outline from a citizen describing mask usage among people/businesses besides "they aren't used very much" but I have been reading that the city council members are equally leftist faggots who are trying to pass mask mandates in some areas like Sioux Falls.
I was planning on moving to Sioux Falls, but now I think the Rapid City area might be the better option. Much smaller, and the "red" areas have a higher concentration, but its also closer to the "blue" counties.
Kristi needs to make it clear that mask mandates are illegal and stop them from happening.
Isn't it amazing how a politician can make an area attractive? In Noem's case, South Dakota sounds great.
Then on the other end of the spectrum, a thing like Cuomo pretty much guarantees I won't even venture into New York state. Don't care if I ever see it, just too unfriendly of a vibe from the people at the top of the rat heap.
I think so, I am specifically moving to SD for this reason, and in the last few months as I have researched more and more, coming across similar comments like yours, and like mine (people moving to SD). I think the writing is on the wall and lots of people are seeing that.

Edit: Hoth. The word is Hoth.

Ah okay good tips! I am moving very soon so ill be sure to be prepared for the winter!
I grew up there. Winters there build character. It's an amazing state. I can't move back there now but if stuff hits the fan, I know where I'm headed.
I hope she gets a massive go fund me account and files a law suit that will force Pelosi back under the rock she slithered out from under.
We need a MAGAFundMe
Depends on what you define as a city. Sioux Falls is the most populous and has about 160k when I last checked
Abderdeen is nice. Good spirit.
Noem is really positioning herself for a strong 2024 run. Hey Left, you wanted a female president so badly, huh? Here you go!
I love the South Dakota commercials running on Fox, Let us show you what makes America Great
Just looked at the map.. Are there any twisty roads there or is it all just a grid?
West River has tons of windy roads through the Black Hills. If you're East River, yeah it's a grid. No point in having twisty roads through farmland
Thanks, I'll stick to West River then when I get to SD
Ehhhh you should watch her on Tucker.
I dont think she votes blue. Or she won't any more at the very least.
The Black Hills, Rapid City, as far a geographics go, I was never happier in my entire life.
Lol I love this woman, never misses an opportunity to sell her state.
I am so close to pulling the trigger and moving to Rapid City
Just moved from SD to TX. I guarantee that she would get a ton of business just because of this incident.
Love my Gov.
That is fucking fantastic. I wish we would have settled in SD.
I can’t find a job here in Tennessee that doesn’t require a mask. Therefore, I can’t find a job that’s right for me.
What’s the mask Naziism like in SD??

Anyone else think SD will become a safe haven for freedom in the US?

I sure wish she was our governor here in Arizona
I wish she was our governor in TEXAS! Abbott has turned into a mouse.
Man, she's something else. She's very striking but also has her head on straight
That.... botoxed to hell and back lady will not move to a rural area like SD....
