I lived there before they created the Pearl... since then I've only been there a couple times... but from what I've seen, it was better as warehouses and diners anyway. Now its a typical gentrification project full of what appear to be complete NPC hipster types. Nauseating.
If you said this to me 10 years ago I would disagree, saying the Pearl is so fancy and nice (totally reminds me of South Parks fancy part of town, when they got a Whole Foods). Today, I agree. It only paved the way for San Francisco folk to move in droves and infiltrated our city with their shitty blue politics and false ideologies.
Get this: Trump says that Portland is “cursed.” I haven’t ever been superstitious until now. Trump says Portland has been cursed for many years. Shanghai tunnels allowing human trafficking is the culprit. There are tunnels all through Portland, I have seen them. Trump will not set foot into Portland and I believe that there may be a physical curse on the town!!
Weren't those tunnels featured on the inaugural episode of Kolchak The Night Stalker way back in the seventies? Look it up if that's unfamiliar. The show is a classic.

Sorry, I'm from the other side of the country and have only visited Portland once, about seven years ago. What do you mean by "Shanghai tunnels"? And is this network of tunnels throughout Portland the result of an abandoned subway system? Something else? Is this system of tunnels a well-kept secret? Thanks in advance, sincerely!

The Shanghai tunnels in Portland were created originally to move goods from ships at port to the businesses in Portland. In the early 1900s the tunnels were used to traffic people for slave labor on ships (the slavers would get young men drunk and kidnap them - when the victim woke up, he was trapped on a ship and forced to work or die). I can guarantee that the tunnels were also used to traffic children and young women. They trafficked drugs (Opium was a big one) and alcohol during the prohibition. These tunnels aren’t a secret, they do (well, lol did, before Portland was destroyed) tours in Portland where you can visit businesses who have the old tunnel entrances on display. One of my first dates with my husband was in Old Town China town at this pizza place where they have an old entrance to the tunnels on display for the tourists.
My theory is that these tunnels are still used sometimes to traffic kids. I believe 1 of these tunnels goes under Voodoo donuts (and I believe they are involved). “Good things come in pink boxes” after all. 😡

im interested. Ive seen the diggin's that were done on voodoo and that effed up hotel. But haven't seen anything other than that. And can confirm that the portland underground goes through the area where the downtown voodoo is at.
Most major cities in the world have extensive underground systems. Some are subway systems, both used and abandoned; many are much, much older.
Catacombs. Sewers. Mines. Hidden tunnels to facilitate crime. Older parts of town that literally had streets built overtop of them, but the structures remained. It's surprising how many folks don't know about this.
There's a reason why some of the U.S. Military trains for underground combat.
And a reason why they have places called DUMBs, which stands for Deep Underground Military Bases.
And a reason why there are sometimes small earthquakes in regions that don't usually have them.
And a reason why so many get away with so much.
It will be destroyed by a tsunami. It's only a matter of time, and when it happens it will be really, really bad. Look into it. The government knows, they even have plans for when it happens. That's the freaky part. The expected damage is shockingly large, and there won't really be much warning. Maybe a few hours. All the bridges into the city will be destroyed, so emergency responders will have to use helicopters and boats. It will be a shit show. So, I have never heard the "it's cursed" thing before, but I would agree that it is.
Yes, the subduction zone off the coast, right? I do know that. I remember learning about it in school... they say the earthquake can be up to 11.0 on the scale!!
