"...go to churches..." sounds like your Portland relatives/friends - while possibly left of center - are not exactly "Portland Liberals"

I've been to visit their churches, and they have stories, so I know up in church, there's always a few liberals, but not many. But I've been to visit some of the bigger inner city churches, and some of them are LIBZONE all the way. I think it just has to do with A) are you native and B) do you live right near downtown.
