Most gun safes aren't that secure either. There are tons of videos on youtube of people quickly cutting through them with a standard "sawsall" and standard cutting blades.
If you don't have kids, it's probably safer to store your guns in different places around the house. If you do have kids, research the gun safe you buy.
I respectfully disagree, burglars rarely bring saws to residential burglaries, unless its a pre-planned big score. As for hiding guns, this might make it difficult to retrieve in an emergency, and when your not home thieves will quickly ransack your house looking for hiding places.

Well I would suggest that its just as important to install it properly. Bolt that sucker down (to a concrete floor preferably). Use real good anchors and strong bolts. Put it in a spot that only you and your adult family would ordinarily have access to (like a closet). I seen people put them on display and I think your asking for trouble. If you have a service person in your house, ie: a plumber, electrician, carpet cleaner, they should not know you have a gun safe. Also don't even tell anyone outside your close circle you have guns or a safe (kids love to brag). As for brands, one poster said you tube is full of posts of people with a sawzall cutting into safes. So don't spend a ton of money, just use common sense. It's rare for a burglar to bring a sawzall to a burglary. They would do it if THEY KNEW they had a big payoff, but most burglars want to get in and out. They ransack and leave.
