Sounds like a catch 22... If I vote by mail, and then vote on person, I will have cast my second ballot, despite the appearance that my first was never counted?
I want my vote to count, but don't want to get fucked in the process.
It's "vote in person the first time to make sure your vote is counted at all because they told you your mailed vote hasn't been received"
There's a big difference between pretending to be someone else to vote twice and just being sure your single vote counts.
If the system works, then there is no harm and your vote is counted one time.
If the system doesn't work, then we were all right and this proves it.
Either way, you still weren't committing fraud by ensuring that your single vote was counted on election day. You gave them your accurate information both times, it's not your fault if they can't cross-check it properly.
You can also vote in person if you mail your ballot and it does not reach your election office by Election Day or if your mail-in ballot is rejected for any reason.
If you dont show up on election day, you wont know if your mailed ballot was counted. If it wasnt, theres a chance it never will. Showing up in person guarantees 1 vote being counted, either by having the in-person vote be the one counted, because your mailed ballot is running late or rejected, or by finding out and confirming your mail-in vote was counted.
Showing up in person is the only way to be sure. If they count your mail-in vote AFTER you vote in-person, thats not your fault, thats election fraud by the vote counters for not having safeguards in place to not count votes twice. Which is possible is exactly what the Dems want to do, count Dem votes twice. Trump literally called them out, and they have to either admit that or pretend theres no errors when counting mailed votes.

I'm not a lawyer, but 'knowingly vote a second time' and 'vote again if they let you' sounds contradictory.

I think that makes sense.
Why not just vote in person in the first place?
Yeup. Basically vote once, but check twice. ;).
Well said
