I was always a team Tesla kinda guy. Edison was pretty much the Bill Gates of his day. Generally, a mediocre person that knew how to pilfer intellectual property to get what he wanted. He is a notable historical figure in his own right, but his legacy is kinda overhyped in my opinion.
He had the backing of JP Morgan too. They basically used sleazy business practices and slander of DC to make AC standard. Tesla kinda went broke after that iirc.
Tesla was an amazing man and the history around him is really interesting to get into. He basically invented wireless electricity (though someone a few years ago got an award for perfecting it) and wanted to build huge towers on the planet's magnetic poles to supply the world with wireless power.
Various electric lighting inventions occurred between 1761 until Edison’s commercially successful lightbulb in 1879.
A bunch of people had different inventions during that time, maybe around 22 inventors. Timeline here
Left off that timeline is William E Sawyer, the black inventor Joe Biden might be referring to (he is mentioned on the wiki page under “Commercialization”).
William Sawyer and his company partner, Albon Man (who was an attorney) patented an incandescent light design in 1877, one year before Edison’s first light patent and two years before Edison’s commercially successful patent. However, Edison’s design lasted much longer than Sawyer & Man’s design.
Edison’s lightbulbs were used commercially 6 months before the Sawyer-Man bulbs, thus further popularizing the notion that Edison invented the lightbulb. And in a way Edison did: he invented the first commercially viable light.
this page contains a picture of William Sawyer, and this page lists some of his notable inventions.
At the end of the day, Americans made ground-breaking contributions to lighting the world.
I certainly do not, and I haven’t seen the context Biden is speaking about. Just providing info. Good point about the scripting...illustrates the woke ones probably control him already.
Btw, Sawyer seems like a based guy.
Also, I learned that the most famous use of the Sawyer-Man bulb was for the 1883 Chicago World Fair. However, they tried to buy Edison bulbs first, but Edison wouldn’t sell them any. Haha. So they went with Sawyer-Man product.
Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb. He perfected it, but didn't invent it.
(Just throwing some facts out there. Not a slam at the OP.)
Fact is: Edison was a prolific patent stealing dick.
Thank you for the link. Upvote.
It took 5 minutes to image search every scientist and inventor that preceded Edison. NONE of them was black.
Same. I was intrigued with the history. But again, Biden is a lying dog faced pony soldier.

You have no idea what black man creepy Joe was referring to, joe himself doesn't know. That was a scripted line his handlers told him to say.
