Unpopular opinion but I don't really care if it is within the first 8 weeks. Mostly because the majority of people who seek abortion are unhinged leftists, drug addicts, or assholes who would use the child to obtain welfare or abuse them and we don't have adequate systems in place to stop that. Also, because I have had a child and have seen their development up close. They are not aware at that stage nor do they have a developed nervous system or brain. They don't even start to feel until about 12 weeks. I know that it is crude and sad to say but the world has enough unwanted children. I would prefer it not happen at all but I just don't believe that is realistic.
That’s actually what Roe v Wade was originally close to. Basically that first trimester no state could outlaw. 2nd trimester only in certain cases. 3rd trimester never. And Roe v Wade was only there because some states didn’t allow abortion ever, like Texas, so Roe v Wade made it so no state could outlaw abortion in the first trimester. But these days the radical left has trampled all over even the r v w rulings.
I’m personally a pro life absolutist but willing to take compromise where I can get it because the amount of abortion and the way baby killing is normalized and even celebrated in this country (ie shout your abortion) is satanic.
And I hear the arguments but I just still believe the baby in those scenarios are innocent and deserve to be protected rather than dismembered and have their organs harvested and sold. I still understand the arguments though and even empathize with it, you don’t want a burden on a mother who is struggling to survive already, some babies would be born into such poverty and abusive conditions that their lives would just be suffering anyway, when the developing baby is so underdeveloped they can’t even feel the pain and don’t know they are even alive yet so what’s the difference. From a materialist stand point they make sense. But I believe in a Creator and that each human being is uniquely created both body and soul and that those infinite possibilities of life are extinguished with each abortion. And that the life and spirit being snuffed our with each abortion is also the purest of pure, having never even had the chance to do wrong to anyone ever. The ones killed in abortion are literally the only Truly innocent humans on the planet.

Life is full of suffering, but babies are absolutely innocent and deserve the chance to be born no matter what. Its sad but like you, I believe a firm cap at 8 wks is a compromise I am willing to make.
