I had the need to have some work done on my car, and decided to visit a nearby mall during my wait. I put on my full bodied haz-mat suit with self-contained oxygen supply, as I was assured that this virus is absolutely deadly if someone in a 1-mile radius sneezes, and went into the mall looking for 2 things.
- A medicinal shop that only exists in this mall that I get a certain supplement at.
- A specific food station that I had been craving that makes savory crepes
Walking in I notice that the crepe station is closed, for what appears to have been a while. Sad, but oh well...
Making my way to the other store I find that it is out of business completely. Store front blocked, sign removed, gone...
Sighing I start walking back to my car to notice something interesting.
There were absolutely no white people in the mall, other than myself (and the barista at Starbucks).
Now, I didn't walk through the whole mall and compared to the unsafe times of the past it wasn't crowded, but it was fuller than I would have expected.
Seriously, of the 50 or so people I passed on my way out of the mall none of them were white.
This is compounded by the fact this mall was in Portland OR where the "white" demographic makes up 77% of the population. And this was a fairly upscale mall, definitely not just a strip mall on the corner.
It couldn't possibly be that white people listen to the stay at home order while other races feel free to ignore it?
feel free to ignore it as well. don't be a sheep.
Maybe. But the black and brown people were wearing masks right?
