They’re mentioning it so they can call attention to a 100 year old race riot, and use the logical fallacy of fast forwarding, to say that it’s exactly what’s happening now. My impression based on a google search is it was more like white people and black people getting into a fight... Rather than how they portray it which is "White devils marched onto Black Wall Street and burned it down to hurt black people"
No, it was more the latter. A black kid was accused of raping a white girl in a hotel and a white mob went to lynch the kid. A group of armed blacks tried to stop them, and a firefight erupted. After 24 hours of intense fighting, mostly white mobs burned 35 blocks worth of black neighborhoods, killing dozens of blacks. About a dozen whites were killed too. It was bad. I'm sure you can do a better search.
