People can make their own damn mind up if they want to go eat out. It’s like when they used to ask you “we only have seats in the smoking section” people be like “yah. That’s fine”. We assessed the risk and determined “I’m hungry “

Ditto for movie theaters. They're STILL closed here in NY. Emperor Cuomo decided last minute, maybe 2 days before they were scheduled to open at limited capacity, that they weren't "essential."

This was just over a week ago. Five months into this fucking scam, and we're still talking about what's "essential."

Cuomo's slow-playing the opening, clinging onto every last shred of power. That way, when he runs in 2024, he can say: "See? I made all the right decisions by opening NY s-l-o-w-l-y and we didn't have a resurgence! I did good!" Never mind he can't prove the slow opening did fuck all, or that he killed all those people. All that matters is optics.

And remember his issue with the malls? "They need better air filtration before they can open"

18
Shakakka99 18 points ago +18 / -0

He said the same thing about movie theaters. How the fuck are they any different than restaurants or stores? Movie theaters have vaulted ceilings. The new chairs are giant these days, and there's plenty of space.

You can jam 200+ people into a Costco or BJ's, but you can't sell groups of movie tickets where the computer blocks off an extra seat on each side?

5
Peashout 5 points ago +5 / -0

Or Walmart? What kind of filters does costco have? Been safe this whole time?

4
bklyndamsel 4 points ago +4 / -0

Oh man, my father said that now all of the buildings have to have new air filtration systems. I reminded him we didn't do that for swine flu, but all he can say is that he knows people who have died. Most of them of people he knows who knows someone. I then asked him about the CDCs new report on the 6%. He says he doesn't trust them anymore and won't believe it. I love him but fuck, he is dense.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol damn. He doesn’t trust the CDC? Neither do I, but where is he getting his info from besides second hand gossip? I’m guessing the MSM.

14
charbatch 14 points ago +14 / -0

What scientific method did he use to justify declaring what is essential and what is not? He just does what the science tells him to do...

12
ignorant_slob 12 points ago +12 / -0

In California wineries are open but breweries aren’t.

15
LetFreedomRing 15 points ago +15 / -0

Pelosi owns a winery, that's probably why.

charbatch 1 point ago +1 / -0

Really? I hadn't heard that before I'm sure the wine industry money has nothing to do with that.

5
LazySusan 5 points ago +5 / -0

He banned fracking without looking into the science, either. But claiming that he did. We know this is a lie because fracking has been proven to be safe in other areas.

3
BoltBoltBoltBolt90 3 points ago +3 / -0

Movie theaters are easier to social distance than restaurants. It's easier to follow their (unconstitutional) mask mandates, and you can have 3-4 chair distancing, and with the newer chairs in most theaters nowadays as another pede mentioned, there's more distance. Movie theaters are also way larger than restaurants, and with the right cleanup after movies, it's easy. They just wants excuses to keep things closed and keep people out of jobs to hurt Trump, they're lunatics.

2
captainweasel 2 points ago +2 / -0

He rolled back movie theater openings? Ughhh this fucking guy. I was really looking forward to that.

1
Shakakka99 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yup, with no definitive date on when they can open, either. I was also looking forward to taking my son to a movie. The whole thing is an ego-fueled power-trip for this maniac.

1
captainweasel 1 point ago +1 / -0

It really is. I’ve been in NY my entire life and for four decades I never imagined living anywhere else. These last few months have really changed that.

15
Nellie_the_Beaut 15 points ago +15 / -0

“Outdoor only” eating, drinking, movies, plays. What happens in 3-6 weeks when it becomes too damn cold to sit outside all the time - especially at night? In California the Governor psycho (Clip ‘n Dye Nancy’s nephew) just announced hair salons and barbers in certain areas can resume services 9/1 - OUTSIDE. Who the hell wants to sit out on a sidewalk next to recreational shitters getting your hair washed and cut? These mail-in voter activist governors are insane.

6
ignorant_slob 6 points ago +6 / -0

I’m pretty sure hobo shit is the product used to get that liberal hippie hair look.

8
TheRealTurdFurgeson 8 points ago +8 / -0

There's been no due process to the forcible shutdown of businesses. The gov't can't claim a national security threat as an on-going threat unless congress passes something.

I don't remember being able to vote for the shutdown. It's fucking illegal and needs to be lifted immediately. (Speaking from commiefornia here).

23
Lamech_Slade 23 points ago +23 / -0

Hope they bankrupt the state.

12
Cakes4077 12 points ago +12 / -0

Cuomo and de Blaisio are doing that themselves. Running off all the rich with sky high taxes, giving exorbitant benefits to government workers, shutting businesses down so they’ll have less taxable income and sales tax figures. The only thing they’ve down that would help is killing off the old in nursing homes so less people using government health services.

20
Cuck_Slayer24 20 points ago +20 / -0

Why has this taken so long to happen? Every shut down in every state was unconstitutional bullshit, based on verifiable bullshit. We have subjects all over Europe putting on massive demonstrations against lockdowns and mask mandates. Yet all the fucking cowards here in the "Land of the Free" and "Home of the Brave" just sit by and take it up the ass dry.

There is little other reason to tour New York City, as a straight white male.

The food was amazing, but I would bet it's quality will never be the same again.

When the billionaire's and their associated businesses leave... the world class chefs follow.

NYC will soon be left with hot dog carts and Chinese take out, as its culinary legacy.

17
bigleaguetrump 17 points ago +17 / -0

NYC is heading back to where it was in the 70s and may become the next Detroit if people there don't come to their senses soon.

8
defaultuser42 8 points ago +8 / -0

I really think all high density cites are heading that way. Libs were able to gain control then say: "well if you wanna work white collar, its our way or the rural hwy." With modern communication technologies we people don't need to be in the same building to work together. I think you are going to see the east and west coast bubbles pop as American spread out more and flock to lower pop density cities and rural areas. Especially after lockdown taught us we can work from home.

3
TNM0 3 points ago +3 / -0

yeah but i'm afraid liberal leftist trash will start invading conservative and traditional areas, poisoning them in the process. I say let the losers congregate in cities. Don't come to the suburbs and other red states to try to make them blue

Just heard on the radio 30 seconds ago that he’s opening restaurants with 25% capacity.

Still a douche

7
MAGA_Master 7 points ago +7 / -0

It’s because that stupid judge said that limiting capacity was not the same and closing down churches.

8
polish_snausage 8 points ago +8 / -0

Now sue for our family members he murdered

7
spezhatesgays 7 points ago +7 / -0

NYer here. People fucking hate these two morons, it's a real shame it isn't an election year for Comrade Andy

3
d_bokk 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wasn't De Blasio's last opponent even further left than he was?

6
OhLollyLollyPop 6 points ago +6 / -0

I watched Jason Goodman's walk around NYC from yesterday on YT. He went by dozens of restaurants around lunchtime, and there are barely any customers sitting out on the sidewalks in the makeshift eating areas.

There do seem to be somewhat more pedestrians, but he also walked by about 10 moving trucks.

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same thing going on in SanFran. OANN did a story on it this week. 45-50% of shops and restaurants closing up. Many of them are moving out of the state. That city is a mess even if you take away all the sidewalk shitters.

6
maga_gal 6 points ago +6 / -0

Damn. I thought the plandemic was over in NY. They STILL can't go out to eat??? We (TX) have been able to eat at restaurants since like May. Eesh. Everything is open here... and we still have "cases".

7
Cyer6 7 points ago +7 / -0

I guess Abbott is scheduling to open up Texas some more next week but I still have no interest in going out and about until they get rid of the muzzles.

3
maga_gal 3 points ago +3 / -0

Do you know when the muzzle order ends?

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

No. He hasn't announced anything yet and all these idiots seem to love the muzzles because they think it gives them cover from the media. "See, although I opened up the state, I still keep distancing and muzzles in place for safety."

6
defaultuser42 6 points ago +6 / -0

They can't keep shutting shit down without giving us an end game. What are we waiting for? This thing won't just go away until it runs it course or we get a vaccine.

All the responses are completely divorced from the infection numbers(be they real or not). So at this point you are just playing economic Simon says.

Simon says; Close down for two weeks to "flatten the curve" when no one has it.

Simon says: Start back up three months later when you infection number are ten fold

Simon says; If you aren't BLM, Don't go out without a mask.

Simon says: Lock down

Simon says: Lock down

Simon says: Lock down....

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +2 / -0

What are we waiting for?

The election, I’d guess. It seems the purpose of all this is to justify mass mail-in voting.

6
QueensOwn 6 points ago +6 / -0

We are almost six months in to the “pandemic”, NY has minuscule infection rates (hey Cuomo killed everybody already) yet they don’t even have a plan for indoor dining. They are deliberately trying to destroy restaurants in NYC. How people have tolerated this is really the story. Ridiculous.

5
magafi 5 points ago +5 / -0

And you can vote differently too.

5
rob0Pede 5 points ago +5 / -0

“Sue cuomo and diblasio”...aka sue the taxpayers to make good on the fuckups of corrupt officials.

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

Here in Texas, our dipshit Gov. Abbott, along with many cities and counties have had thousands of lawsuits filed against them for lockdowns and muzzle mandates. It's been months and still nothing has come out of it. I have no faith in resolving problems through the justice system.

4
TallFunDom 4 points ago +4 / -0

If they could only wait until after the election! /s

Wonder if Cuomo is going to have their liquor licenses revoked AS HE DID when another restaurant owner opened his mouth publicly.

3
ignorant_slob 3 points ago +3 / -0

I still remember the photo ops in Chinatown saying we should all come for the festivities. Did those get memory holed?

3
Shakakka99 3 points ago +3 / -0

Please... please...

2
astro_eng 2 points ago +2 / -0

When you have to sue for your rights youve already lost!

2
Zadok 2 points ago +2 / -0

"We The People" decide when to open the country. Just do it all together.

2
TrumpsGlassOfWater 2 points ago +2 / -0

YES.

I've been wondering where the fuck the lawyers are with all of these DIRECTLY AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION mandates.

Greedy lawyers who love suing the state should be all over this shit right now.

WHERE ARE THEY???

2
mrmrmrj 2 points ago +2 / -0

Discovery will be a bitch.

1
rootGoose 1 point ago +1 / -0

They're just now getting around to suing them?

1
DNC_Ballot_QATeam 1 point ago +1 / -0

We should also be suing the CDC and media for the political games played

1
billymcgorn 1 point ago +1 / -0

Good, now sue Amazon, UberEats, GrubHub, Walmart, and every piece of shit establishment that used their financial clout to donate millions to BLM, who are responsible for widespread destruction and mayhem.

1
Humongus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don Cuomo, his idiot side kick DeBlasio and his stupid brother Fredo have got a problem in their hands.

1
plaaaa 1 point ago +1 / -0

The tax payers will pay. This won't cost DiBlasio a thing out of his own pockets. I hate those crook politicians.

1
ChicagoforTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

YAY!! ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME. EVERYONE NEEDS TO START SUING GOVERNORS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!!

1
incogneato 1 point ago +1 / -0

excellent. But is there any chance they can win?

1
everyman 1 point ago +1 / -0

There is risk in everything we do.

I’d wage you are more likely to either die or get mugged on the way to the restaurant than die from COVID.

If you are afraid you can stay home.

1
TexasJack 1 point ago +1 / -0

Two months too late, but better late than never.

1

Is NYC about to go red?

1
americanjerky 1 point ago +1 / -0

NEW YORK STAND UP!!

1
bklyndamsel 1 point ago +1 / -0

My father said that most restaurants in his neighborhood have taken their seating outside. It has taken up a lot of the parking space, but fuck it. Might as well make the money while they can because winters coming and nobody is going to eat outside then.

1
InterloperKO 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nice system where you file suit against your own tax dollars while the "representatives" face no repercussions
