When Disney put billions into China, they thought they would actually own their investments. They thought China would become like the US and respect property rights.
But mainland China will never respect property rights- not because of Chinese culture (Taiwan respects property rights) but because the CCP is basically a criminal gang that sees property as just another form of leverage over its subjects.
In theory, all Disney has to is piss off the CCP a little and they lose their Chinese theme parks and their movie revenue. The problem is that the second the CCP does that, they lose all power over Disney and Disney becomes intensely anti-CCP. Which I think is only a matter of time, especially if Trump keeps putting pressure on the CCP- eventually they'll have nothing left to steal except the property of foreigners- and they're almost at that point now.
