I think they've confused it on purpose. It used to be

Trans man = man who wants to be / acts like a woman Trans woman = woman wants to be / acts like a man

Controlling language is a path to controlling thought, with the added benefit that if nobody knows what the fuck other people are talking about, there is no objective truth.
