So bond should only be $200k, though if he does post bail I hope they have hella good security/safe house for him.

141
sickofaltspin 141 points ago +142 / -1

Not in Wisc. Cash only bail, no bond. This is the same as a $20M bail in most states.

15
BeerAndCope 15 points ago +15 / -0

Are there not bail bondsmen in Wisconsin? It’s a legitimate business. You give the company 10%, they put up the other 90%. You get out on bail and the bail bond company made 10%.

15
sickofaltspin 15 points ago +15 / -0

Wisconsin doesn't allow bail bonds.

9
BeerAndCope 9 points ago +9 / -0

I’ll take your word for it but that just seems bizarre to me.

6

But if he's in Illinois right now?

3
TheGoodApple220 3 points ago +3 / -0

Unsure which state law applies in extradition.

1
PatrickSebast 1 point ago +1 / -0

Even if they did asking a bail bondsman to put up $2 million is a lot more than they normally deal with. There is a big risk/cash flow assessment involved. Even if they are confident in the case that doesn't mean they are confident that the money isn't going to be held up in court for years.

91
CisSiberianOrchestra 91 points ago +91 / -0

Lin Wood is using private security contractors who used to be Navy SEALs for the protection of himself and his team. I imagine he'd extend that to Kyle and his family.

Also when you do a bond you pay 10% and the bail bondsman puts up the other 90%. You never get that 10% back. That is the fee you pay to the bondsman.

HOW MANY MURDER PERPS IN CHICAGO GET A $2 million bond set???

Illinois you can do 10%... This is like $20m bail in Chicago.

1

So all these killing in Chicago - the perps (if caught) get 20 mil bonds?

https://heyjackass.com/

Or is the bond set to 'ability to pay vs run'

51
getkek 51 points ago +52 / -1

The revolving bail system is the real perpetuator of injustice. I have no idea how a better system might work or if there is one, but I've never understood how this can't be considered extortion.

46
Warskullx 46 points ago +46 / -0

Bail should function where you put up an amount of money and the court is sure you'll show up to get your money back. Once the case is over you get your money back.

With Kyle, he already turned himself into the cops after the shooting happened. When they didn't arrest him he went home. When they decided to arrest him after the fact he went right in. He's shown he isn't a flight risk, so $1 million is more than enough bail.

Why don't they just slap an ankle bracelet on people awaiting trial? Hell, make it an option instead of bail.

Edit: OK, just saw outside the article that bail was set at $2 mil. Still, only give to the fund promoted by Lin Wood. Its not been verified that the other one has even contacted Kyles attorneys.

Not sure if anyone else read the article, but no where does it mention that bail has been set. In fact, I dont think anything is happening until....was it the 23rd? After the first session where Kyle wasn't even present and his court appointed attorney requested time for Kyle to hire lawyers his next trial date isn't set till late Sept. Don't believe anything said till then, and be careful which fund you give to. I'd only give to the one promoted by Lin Wood.

Corrupt judge. You can't do bonds at 10% in Wisconsin. Cash only. This is no different than a 20 million bail in most states. Ya, this is INSANE the judge did this.

More donations need to come. 2 million needs to be put down. INSANE. CORRUPT! Leftists destroy everything they touch.

6
Drinkup4 6 points ago +6 / -0

It would be sick to throw away $200,000. You don't get bail bond money back. The bail must be reduced. Also my understanding is Wisconsin doesn't allow it.

8
CovefefeREEEE 8 points ago +9 / -1

My understanding is that you get it back when you appear for trial. It is a security deposit with the court, that is refundable, if you do what you are supposed to do: stand trial.

7
Drinkup4 7 points ago +7 / -0

You get bail back. A bail bond goes to the bondsman. The Bondsman puts up the Bail. They get to keep the 10%.

3
Naughtalus 3 points ago +3 / -0
