Rioters have been given free reign, and I'm sure the cops are sick of it, but I think Portland and Seattle and other places are trying to wind them down only because of the bad optics, not because they don't support the riots. Wait till after the election and see what happens.
Apparently this is happening because the state patrol has been deputized by the US Marshals, so they're federal instead of state now, or however that works.
So IE they are now free to actually do their jobs, so the job is getting done.
EDIT: I think I'm wrong, I was thinking of Oregon. Did Seattle's state troopers get deputized too or are they actually doing their job on their own?

Traffic on I-5, I-405, and I-90 is already a HUGE problem. Pedestrian traffic and bicycles are prohibited on these major interstate highway systems for safety reasons. WSDOT and WSP do not fuck around when it comes to keeping traffic moving and clearing shit off the highway.

my point being is that I don't think that move allowed them to make any arrests in politically compromised cities, but it does allow for more officers to get active in areas where those arrests will actually matter - as in OP's video, on a highway.

They were on I5 the interstate shutting it down many times in the past and this year and the cops did nothing. Probably all optics for the election.
