Would be nice if there was a rule/law that upon claiming to be a journalist, said person would have to present credentials upon request. If unable to do so, they could be detained and/or fined.

Assuming there are such credentials and officially being a journalist requires some sort of registration. Otherwise, what's to stop anyone from saying that at any time?
