SD wages are so low even for professional work that I can make the same moving to a "broke red state" and still buy a house and reduce my COL while making the same as I am making in SD. The only people who have a valid argument are the people making $200,000 then it doesn't make sense for them to move. CA is filled only with haves and have nots. Any red state has a good sized middle class because everything is more.affordable due to not having to pay high rent / mortgage just to have a place you call home.

"yeah it is great out here" "lets say I wanted to buy a 1/4 acre of property and 2500 sq ft house that is near work" "OHHHHH you would have to be very rich" "Just ball park it" "at least 750k probably way more" "I paid 180 for that and it is worth 200k for that and it is paid for" "that is a good deal" "lets say I wanted to pay that out there" "oh you would have to commute for 3 hours at least each direction" "my commute is maybe 5 mins right now" "maybe I should move out there"
