OTOH, people in my state have the state flag on everything and in some countries they proudly display their flag on just about anything. Great Britain is an example that comes to mind - the Union Jack is all over.
That’s only for the actual flag, not non-flags with the image of the flag on it. His gaiter is a gaiter with a design that resembles the flag, not a flag cut/sewn into a gaiter.
But that’s not a flag. It’s an image symbolic of the flag, but not an actual flag.
Good Housekeeping or some other lifestyle mag got in big trouble a few years back for suggesting that using a legit American flag as a tablecloth on July 4 as a fun and respectful gesture. Holy balls they got slammed so hard by the vet community.
Minor problem:
(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
