Couple years back, I was changing a flat just out of town. Deputy pulled up behind me with lights on, it was summer, the only thing I had to drink was the open beer sitting on my rig. I started to explain how it was my first drink of the day, and I had nothing else to drink. He stopped me and said he doesn't begrudge a man for drinking a beer, hot day like this. Kept his lights on 'till I was done, then rolled back into town.
Except in the many counties that declared themselves second amendment sanctuaries, refused to enforce mask law, and actually arrest rioters.
